Hello everyone! This may not be the correct forum for this, but I figured someone would move it along if it's wrong. Anyway, I have come here for words of wisdom, as usual :thumbsup2

My mom and I have been having a rough year (or 2 really) to say the least- lots of family and financial issues- and I thought a surprise trip to Disney might cheer her up! It would only be for a few days, probably 4 nights at POP, but hey, it's better than nothing right?!

My DBF and I are going down this year Nov 28-Dec 4, so in trying to space the trips out a bit I was thinking of maybe taking her the first week in May (Wed to Sunday). I know it will be fairly busy, but has anyone been this time of year before? Will it be totally wall to wall? She doesn't ride much (motion sickness), so it would really be a lot of shows and more low key rides for us.

I guess what I am looking for is opinions on this week, and/or suggestions for other times. I think she will love the Flower & Garden show though! My mom is probably the easiest person in the world to please also!!!!

I've never known the first week of May to be busy...it's probably the least busy time of the Spring.

The F&GF is beautiful, and if you will be there on Mother's Day there is a lovely brunch too!

Hope it's not wrong to bump my own thread- I didn't want it to get lost in the "back pages" on it's first day :thumbsup2

I went the first week in May this year and it was very nice: perfect weather, low crowds, and the flower and garden festival was nice. I think it would be a perfect time to go.

We have gone the first or second week in May for the past few years. It's a great time to go. Crowds are very manageable. The heat is there but it's not completely unbearable. You'll have a great time!

We went at this time last year and we enjoyed it. Crowds were great earlier in the week but they picked up noticeably on Friday as we got closer to the weekend (probably pretty much the case all year.) The only think we ran into that was a problem was the school groups at Epcot. This is close to the end of the school year in Florida and there were a lot of school groups with end of the year trips. They were a bit overwhelming at times. Weather was great - just alittle hot one day. We thought it was a good time to go. Have fun!

Wow, thanks for everyone's input! I really hope I can pull off the surprise trip for my mom, she would cry I'm sure, haha. The week i am looking at is the week before Mother's Day and during the F&GF- are there any special events we shouold look to attend at Epcot during this time?

Ok, I know this is a lot of planning before I have even booked the trip, but what the hey, right? Planning is AT LEAST half the fun in my opinion!! :rotfl:

We went the first 10 days in May, and crowds weren't bad. The Flower & Garden Show at Epcot is beautiful! I thought it was pretty hot and humid in May (much more so than October), but being from Montana, we're not used to the humidity so maybe it isn't that bad! :)

Being from Indiana, I am all too familiar with humidity (unfortunately) and didn't find it bad at all!

Its a great time to go. We went the first week of May in 2005 and 2006 and if I could only go to WDW once a year that would be my pick hands down. It can get warm but not humid. The nights are still very pleasant and not muggy as they are in the summer. Grad Nights can be an issue with seeing Wishes and Spectro, so before you go check the schedule to plan accordingly. Epcot is just beautiful, the topiaries make great photo ops. In my opinion you are very lucky to be going then!
