Hi there. Thanks in advance for your advice.

We will be visiting WDW and IOA the second week in December.

Will it be too cold for the kids to swim in the hotel pool?

Are there any hotels with indoor pools?

all of WDW pools are heated.

at off-site timeshares, at least one pool is heated.

the hotels some are some aren't.

Now I love to go to Florida to swim in Dec!!!

so it is doable if the weather is okay.

swimming even in a heated pool when the temperature is 40 degrees is not my ideal of fun.

anything below 60 and I don't swim.

61 and above I would definitely go swimming in a heated pool.

One can never tell. I know that some years we went the weather was very nice and temperate. I also know that some years we went the weather was so cold and I was not prepared. I remember making the kids keep their pj's on under their jeans and we had to scramble to get hooded sweatshrits, gloves and hats for them and us as well. Be prepared either way.

I would say a lot depends on where you are from also. For instance, we are from MN and we go swimming when we visit in Dec and in Feb. We even go to the beach. Now, I grew up in So CA and when I lived there there is no way I would have gone swimming in Dec! However, when you are leaving subzero temps, even 60 degrees seems really warm!

We are from Chicago - so you are right, we will be loving it even if it is 60!

I think we will wait til we are there to decide if we will go to a water park.

And I'll still look for a hotel with both an indoor and outdoor pool.

Thanks!!

Neoomk--meant to also say, Welcome to the DIS!!

I haven't seen many hotels with indoor pools in FL. There is one resort that I cannot remember it's name and the whole courtyard, pools, gardens area is indoors, but while I can't remember the name, I do remember that it is really pricey--I am thinking it is Gaylord Palms.

You have picked a great time of year to go. We were considering going again next Dec after our Feb trip in 2006 and buying annual passes, but now we are thinking of a trip to CA to visit family instead. Anyway, we went in Dec a few years ago and it is really great then with the decorations and crowds not being too heavy. (Though they were heavier than we expected.)

None of the onsite resorts have indoor pools.

Some of the offsite ones do, but usually it's just their "quiet pools". The really big ones they are known for (Olympic size, slides, lazy river) are outside.

Early December is good because it can still be warm during the day, and it's not too crowded. The Christmas decorations will be up.

We try to swim when we go; December, January and March, so far.

Thanks again for all of your posts. :love2:

This can be overwhelming - there are SO many hotels to choose from, and I keep changing my mind and looking for a better deal!!!

We will not be renting a car (don't want to drive on vacation, and we're from Chicago so we don't drive much now anyway) and will be visiting both IOA and MK. A hotel shuttle is important to get us to the parks and we can cab it back like we did last time, which worked out just fine.

Also, I'm planning a morning at the richard petty driving place for my hubby. He will be *very* surprised.

Thanks again, and trust that I *will* be posting with my other needs for your advice!!

As others have noted, it may very well be nice enough to swim. You need to bring clothes for temperatures that may be very nice (70s or lower 80s) or not so nice (lower 20s with frost warnings). Most of the time the temperatures are in the 60s to 70s during the day and maybe upper 40s at night but as I noted earlier, it could be warmer or much cooler. I have gone swimming when it was in the 40s. The swim was nice; getting out, well, that's another adventure. You are going for the adventure aren't you?:sunny:
