We're taking a bus trip into to the city on Friday to see the Radio City Christmas Show. I'm looking for some suggestions on places to pick up food to go. Due to time restraints & finances we would rather not do a sit down meal. We did sit down a couple of years ago and it was outrageous! We will be in the area of Rockefeller Center & Times Square. I know that there are food carts, but any suggestions of places to get things to go reasonably. We have SO MANY places we want to ck out that food quickly seems to be our option. There will be 3 adults & 2 kids (7&10), all girls. I checked the forecast and it looks like 48 and sunny. Thanks for the advise.

There are a number of Cosi's in the area, it's similar to Panera Bread. It's fast and not ridiculously expensive, you can eat there or get it to go.

Same with Five Guys Burgers

There are 2 concourses in Rock Plazas with fast food, the regular one and the subway councourse. They have Wendy's, Au Bon Pain, Cinnabon, Dunkin Donuts, Just Salad, a chinese place...a whole bunch of options.

We don't visit NYC without getting a slice of Ray's pizza (and some garlic knots, lol). :cloud9:

Hale and Hearty Soups are all over as are Cafe Metro's. Google either for list of locations. Have a good visit!

Try Fresh & Co.

My friend and I ate here on a whim on our last trip to New York. The place is impeccably clean, and breakfast sandwiches, slices of pizza, pancakes, sandwiches, etc. are made with natural ingredients and cost close to $3.

They have 3 locations (one near Penn Station, one near Rockefeller Plaza, and one in Midtown East). Here's the website: http://www.freshandconyc.com/

Enjoy your trip!

I checked out your link and this looks really good. We'll be dropped off at Rockefeller Plaza, so it should be easy to find. Thanks so much.

Lots of places in that area-
Bills Burger Bar just opened - very reasonable prices, yummy burgers (on 50th street near Rock Ctr) - sit down but fast

Shake Shack just opened in Theater District - quick service

Dishes to go is on 45th between 5th and Madison (delicious sandwiches, 7.95-12.95 depending on what you get), salads (someone makes it for you), soups, hot bar - really nice stuff. I eat here almost daily. They have a website with the menu which changes all the time.

There's a cafe metro about a block and a half up the street. They are like a value resort food court.

A few blocks away, but we always visit the Macy's food court. It has lots of choices and very quick! (It is on the way from Penn Station to Times Square)

Thanks SO MUCH to everyone for the great ideas. Looks like we'll be having lunch and then grabbing something for dinner to take on the bus for the ride home. So many great choices! Everyone's so excited to go. I took all of your ideas and mapped them thru mapquest. Now just waiting for Friday to come.:cool1:
