I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but does anyone have any specific ideas centered around the 8/21 eclipse? It won't be total in Orlando, but my understanding is that it will darken the sky around 2:45pm. That's a non-park day for DH and I and I'm wondering if we'll just go outside and look up at the sky (with our eclipse glasses, of course) or if there are some worthwhile events planned in the Orlando area that day.

I live near Tampa and they are stating that FL is only in an 80% viewing path. You should see some of it but probably not all of it and like Nayan stated, it really depends on the weather here as well.

If the weather is clear you'll get to see a partial eclipse. It's possible that the sky may not even darken during the event, but you will get to see a chunk of the sun covered by the moon using eclipse glasses.

Check out the If you're not in the path section of this site to see what to expect should the weather cooperate: http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/what_you_see.htm

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to look into the science museum, though I think I'll wait until we have a weather forecast.
