Visiting during Spring Break: Bad Idea?

We're planning to visit our CP son during H.S. spring break. I've read spring break is extremely busy time for CPers at WDW. Is visiting during spring break a bad idea?

I also have people coming to visit me this Spring while I'm down there. I was wondering the same thing.

I hope I get to see them at least a couple of times once my shift ends.

Can anybody relate to this situation?

I can relate, I have family coming down too, but they know I will probably not be able to spend that much time with them, since I'm sure I'll be working alot that week.

We purposely planned our next visit just prior to the start of the Spring Break Season because we know it will be a busy time for our daughter. We did the same thing over the Holiday Season, we went to see her between Thanksgiving and Christmas because she was pretty much working during both of those holidays. Since we knew we wanted to spend some time with her, we just planned for a different time.

If that is the only time you can visit and you want to spend at least a day or two with them, have them try to request some time off NOW. They may also be able to trade shifts with others in their area and depending on location, it might be easy to do this. My DD first location was small and there were a lot of regular part timers desperate for hours so it was easy for her to give shifts away. When she was deployed at other locations it wasn't as easy.

But it doesn't matter how many days your child requests of while in the program, or for how long.

Scheduling mainly takes place online, so if your child wants days off, you simply put it in using the HUB, a cast member-only website. It keeps the process paperless and keeps lots of people out of scheduling offices.

Put your request in ASAP. This is important. Schedules are made weeks in advance, and the sooner they know, the more likely you are to get a day off.

The beauty of the CP is that you automatically get 3-4 years company seniority, which makes your hours high and have a higher chance of getting the days off.

When I was in the CP, about once a month I would request 3 consecutive days off. Never once was I denied, even fourth of July weekend.

Don't worry about your child looking like a slacker. Disney cares more about call outs and inappropriate work attitude than asking for days off.

Unlike the Disneyland Resort, Disney Internship Programs Participants at the Walt Disney World Resort are neither accorded seniority under nor subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreements in place for most Hourly Full Time and Casual Regular Guest Service Cast Members. However, they are guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week.

A lot will also depend on their location. For the first part of her program my daughter was pretty much denied every request off that she had put in due to her location. In her new role she has already put in two requests for time off and both were approved.
