Hi! We are leaving for WDW in 11 days. We are on DDP for 6 of our 9 days there, have all my ADR's, basically have all the days planned out with a rest day in the middle of trip. Here's the dilemna. DH, who works very hard all year, does many many things for DS(14.5) and myself now tells me he really wants to go to Kennedy Space Center. We went about 4 years ago and had a fine time. DS is not excited about going again at all, but I think if DH really wants to go, we should fit it in. After all, we will be at Disney for 9 days, with one day for Universal. DS loves the coasters there.

My question is for those who have gone, perhaps recently. I see the hours are 9-7 and costs $38 for a 2 day pass. They do not seem to mention a one day ticket online. I do not know if that is available for cheaper. My problem is most of our days we have ADRs back at parks or resort hotels at Disney on the DDP. Do you think you really need to spend a full 7-10 hours to really enjoy it there and feel you got your monies worth? I am just trying to fit it in and not loose out on a TS dinner back at WDW. Then I thought maybe we could do a TS buffet breakfast(before heading to Kennedy Space Center, That is if we could get an ADR at such late notice and skip the TS dinner. :confused3

Sorry for the ramble. I really want to please DH. He deserves to go where he wants. Would 5 hours at the center be enough? It will take 2 hours there and back.:confused3 Any suggestions and experiences any of you have had, would help. Thanks in advance. :)

I'd plan to stay all day. DS may love the IMAX movies, and you won't have time to see them during a short day. Since you ride a bus to each location, some time is wasted waiting for the bus.

Dixie Crossroads is a popular stop for dinner.

What about going to a 2TS special dinner one of the other days so you don't loose the credit? I'd hit a breakfast buffet like Boma early before you leave.

We had a similar dilemma- DH really wanted to go and the 3 youngest boys ( ages 8,10 and 12) didn't. But DH works so hard, I thought we should do something he wanted. We had the 2 day pass but planned on only using one day. Our plan was to go spend the entire day but DS8 got sick when we had been there only an hour and we had to take him to the doctor. He was better the next day so we planned to go back but now we were way behind schedule to get to our next destination since we had spent a day in a walk in clinic. So we did the "quick" version of KSC. We had done the ride simulator twice ( a must do- the only thing everyone liked) and one of the movies the day before- that took about an hour. We got there around 10:00am the next day and were done by about 2:00. We did the bus tour- skipping the last stop ( can't remember what it was, but DH felt like he didn't need to stop there). We got off and looked around the other stops but didn't spend hours looking around. We did a couple of the other movies-did a couple of the other tour things- sorry I can't remember their names ( one was a robot thing- we all agreed we could have skipped that). No, DH didn't get to thoroughly explore everything in the detail he wanted, but he was very satisfied with what we did.

I'm sure there is plenty there to spend 2 days there and people are probably going to say we didn't give it the time it deserves, but that is worked well for us.

Thanks so much for the responses. :) I guess if we go, we should plan atleast 7 hours there based on all the things you mentioned and what I can remember from our last trip (a few years ago.) As I get older, my memory really seems more challenged. lol!;)

Oklamomof4boys: Thank you for sharing. I am sorry about your son getting sick when you were there. One year I ended up at celebration hospital emergency and we lost the entire day at Disney. I think we were there for over 8-10 hours. I remember DS, then about 10 was really a good sport but loosing that day of parks was hard to make up so I truly understand what you mean.

Thanks for the sympathy, disgirl. We were very happy he hadn't become sick earlier- we had just gotten off of the cruise that day! And they were wonderful at KSC- a security guard noticed me comforting him when we were waiting for my DH to take us to the hotel and she took us to the nurse on-site. Once she took his temp ( 102.5) she sent us to a doctor. We were just glad he bounced back so quickly with antibiotics.

You can buy a one day ticket to KSC. We bought them last fall. I thought one full day was enough to see and do everything. They have a new ride your son might like that simulates a shuttle launch. Similar in thought to Mission Space, but executed more like Star Tours. It's a welcome addition to the center.
