Visiting Atlantis Question

If you want to walk the grounds and see the DIG (the Aquarium) it is very easy to do on your own.

Just take a taxi over and then buy a wrist band. Cost is $25 for adults. I think it is $19 for kids and free for under 3.

You used to buy this in the casino itself, but I've heard they have since moved it outside the casino. I'm sure if you ask someone can point you in the right direction.

The wristband lets you walk all over the grounds, but you cannot use the pools or the slides (to do that you need to have a room at Altantis or Comfort Suites across the street).

Hope this helps.

We have some photos on our site - click below and then check out the 5/12 cruise or the SS Member Cruise. We have pictures from Atlantis in both.

Enjoy!

you can see the entire resort for free, you pay for the dig, I personally wasn't very impressed, you can see alot of it without paying. If you have ever been to the Boston Aquarium, Mystic, or even Sea World, you won't be impressed, unless I missed something, but we were staying on the ground (Harborside) so it was included, even the kids didn't get excited, you can walk around, go through some of the tunnels to different pools and see the fish, you can even do the shark tank (where they are overhead) without paying, by just walking the grounds. Again, maybe I missed something, but it was neat as a resort guest, but I wouldn't seek it out for a day trip.

When were you there last? The last time we were there, they were checking wristbands at every door leading out of the main building to the pool areas.

We were there last in January by Cruise, we walked around the casinos, shops, out to the restaurant out above some of the dig, walked the footpaths around the pool, walked the wooden rope bridge, out to the beach, even played around on the shuffleboard court. Maybe the difference was this was at night? We stayed a the Harborside in February of 2002.

If you're there during the day, they do check wristbands and/or hotel ID. Without having that, you won't be able to walk the grounds. You will be able to see the hotel lobby, gift shops, etc., as well as the casino. For the $25 you'll get wristbands to go through the Dig. I agree, the Dig isn't worth the money if you've ever been to a big aquarium. We did a day room at the Atlantis on our last cruise there and loved it.

We cruised in May, and spent the day at Atlantis. We completely enjoyed the property. We had access to the pools, water slides, meal and beverage purchases. The presentation of marine life, the variety, and keeping with the entire Atlantis theme make this a unique experience. The entire time my kids, 3 and 7, where yelling “oh look at that fish!” I have been to a lot of Aquariums before, including the National Aquarium in Baltimore and of course the Living Seas - but this place is unbelievable. It was fun, relaxing and nice vacation day: I would do it again.

We got a day room as well and it was so worth it!

Everyone loved the slides and pools - it was an excellent and very relaxing day.

We have visited Atlantis in the evening 2 times. Both times you could freely walk through the dig and around the grounds.

We just returned from our vacation and we did the Atlantis tour on our own. The aquarium and the Dig were nice, but I don't think it was worth the $25 we paid. Plus, we got lost a couple of times since it wasn't signed very well. Food was outrageously priced, so we went back to the ship and ate there then returned back to the shopping district and walked around. When we take the cruise next year, the only thing I plan on doing in Nassau is touring the Bacardi distillery. By the way, Bacardi is much cheaper to buy on board than on shore.

What exactly is a day room at Atlantis and how do you reserve it? We are thinking of doing the Atlantis resort but don't know if it's worth it or if we should just stay in Nassau. What will we be missing in Nassau if we decide to go to Atlantis?:wave2:

I'm not sure when you more recent cruisers went to Atlantis, but when we went on our own at the end of April, the adult wrist bands were $29 each and the child (4-7) was $20. It was $78 for 3 of us. We wouldn't do it again - in my opinion Sea World and the New England Aquarium are way better, but I do agree that the Atlantis setting is beautiful.

I just saw that there are some online pictures of the Atlantis here under the Wonder Pictures:

We went to Atlantis on our Wonder cruise, we rented a room at COmfort Suites, was not that much more $$$ than the excursion, but we used the facilities all day. The kids loved it
