Visit to DLR Includes Veteran's Day

Several friends and I will be at DLR from Nov 8-14th. Some in our group are first-time visitors to California. We will have 5 day hopper tickets and plan to spend a couple of days on offsite activities. Our visit includes Veteran's Day and we are hoping to be offsite for the busiest days of the holiday weekend. What days would you suggest for offsite plans?

For offsite time we are planning to see the San Dieago Zoo one day and the other day tour Hollywood (Walk of Fame, El Capitan Theatre, Disney Soda Shop, Mann's Chinese Theatre, etc.) and drive down PCH to see the beaches. Will these areas be as heavily impacted by the holiday as DL?

Everyone in California will be at Disneyland

Actually, your best bet would be to hit those LA/Hollywood spots on the Monday because traffic will be at it's lightest yet some people do still have to work so the hot spots won't be all that crowded.

The San Diego Zoo/ Wild Animal Park is never really crowded, except in the summer, partly because it is just so big and there aren't "rides" to wait for (other than the tram) so you're good there no matter when you go. If you go on the weekend, beware the Sunday afternoon northbound traffic will be a bear!

The beaches/PCH will also see a pretty good sized crowd of people camping in RVs, but if you are just cruising up the coast and stopping to check it out here and there, you should be go to go no matter which day you choose for that, too.

I highly recommend that you do your offsite stuff on Veteran's Day weekend. DL has been known to close due to capacity on that weekend, so stay away! Actually, I would advise you to spend at least one weekend day at DLR to experience the entertainment (Fantasmic and the fireworks at the least).
