In June 2007 we will be visiting London and Paris. We are really, really hoping stay at DLRP on our way from London to Paris!!! Most likely for 2 nights, June 19-21. This will be our first trip to DLRP. We are looking for advice or comments to some questions so we can begin planning:

How do we get from London to DLRP?

We are considering a stay at either the Disneyland Hotel or Newport Bay Hotel. What are your opinions?

Does either hotel have self-laundry facilities or is there a place near by? If not, would it be better to try and wash clothes in London or Paris?

Any other advice we should consider in planning this visit?

Thank you!

Hi disfan100 and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

Have a look at the stickies at the top of the page.
For travelling, Eurostar seems a popular choice since you are straight to the parks :)
Both hotel choices are good with DLH paying for the proximity to the park :)

Hi!

You can just get the Eurostar right to DLP. The laundry facilities are just iffy, I know there is one at the Cheyenne and one elsewhere that I recall. Personally, I'd just go ahead and wash clothes in Paris (London was VERY expensive for washing clothes for me - it actually cost me like half the price at the laundrette I went to in Paris!)

Yoo hoo!

You sound a lot like me...making plans to go to DLP from London.

Eurostar will get you from London directly to DLP (or Paris, if that's really your destination). You can book Eurostar directly at their website and collect your tickets at Waterloo station the day of departure. I learned the hard way that I couldn't get Eurostar booking through DLP--they book it for UK residents but not US residents--go figure, and kiss the Disney Express Service goodbye.

I have several suggestions: read everything you can on these boards. The folks here are so nice, so helpful, and so understanding...I swear I have pushed the limits of 'there are no stupid questions' as well as committing multiple posting faux pas.

The hotel FAQ stickies are tremendously informative.

If you want to make a booking and pay for the entire booking up front, and have no additional things you want on your trip (restauraunt reservations, etc), the DLP website is OK to use. If you only want to pay a deposit, have other side items to add on, you'll have to call them. I would *highly* recommend getting a discount overseas calling plan (I found PennyTalk, and it's 49 cents to connect/2 cents per minute).

Since I have many of the same issues you do w/r/t bookings, one thing you can do is click on my name and see some of the threads where I've posted...that might give you an idea of stuff that's already been discussed.

Happy planning!:yay:

Thank you for your kind words disneylandkids!:flower3:

disfan100, welcome! :welcome: I agree that the Eurostar would be the best way to get to DLRP from London ~ it gives you maximum time in the parks too! :wizard:

Any more questions, please ask away! :goodvibes

We take the Eurostar between London and Paris. Its very fast and convenient.
