My fiance and I are going to be at disney the week of may 5th. I was wondering if many of the restaraunts, snack bars, and shops take visa or is cash or travelers checks a better idea?:jester: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Most places will take Visa but some stands are cash only, so you may want a little of that as well.

We usually start with a couple hundred dollars between us, and put a credit card down on the room for room chanrging.

We charge everything possible, and pay cash when needed (some of the carts).

now when you say cash, does that mean travelees checks as well. i always thought they were the same thing

Welcome to the boards. I usually use a combination of them. However, if you are staying on Disney property, why not just use your room key? Then you won't have to carry around so much and it will all be on one bill when you leave.

I use a combination of all three. Cash (for carts, taxis, tips) Traveller's Cheques for meals & credit cards for larger purchases.

I am always worried that I do not have enough with me........... so I put my room on a credit card... I have some cash with us and then the rest in traveler's checks.........I usually come home with checks and redeposit in my bank... but better safe than sorry is my motto..

We always put a credit card on our room key and then charge everything to that in the parks. We don't find a need for Travelers Checks. We usually pay off the room charge at the end of the week with our debit card so that it doesn't go through to the credit card. It is so nice to only worry about carrying our room keys and a very small amount of cash in the parks. For example, last year we anticipated needing $500 for meals and souvenirs. Our charges came to $650, so we paid the $500 at the end of the week and let the $150 go through to the credit card. It is nice to have one itemized bill at the end of the week, plus have most of purchases paid off before we leave instead of getting a huge credit card bill. We usually only take a $100 or so in cash for the few snack stands in the park that don't take cards.

However, now that I have the Disney Visa, I will probably just let everything hit my charge card so that I can earn the reward dollars. Hope this helps.
