Visa Rewards, Cindy & Free Dining

I plan to book a trip for September and pay my deposit using my Disney Rewards Dollars from my Disney Visa. I will also try to book a table at Cindy's and pay for that the same way. If free dining comes out for that time & I call and get on the dining plan how will I get the refund for the ADR. Will they give me back rewards dollars? Has anyone ever done this before?

Reward dollars cannot be refunded. Period. Save them to pay for your resort room or whatever and put your deposit on a regular credit card.

I planned on paying for everything with the rewards dollars. If they are not refundable would they transfer them? Take the payment off of the ADR and put it towards the room?

If not, I guess using the credit card would be the best thing.

I don't know about transferring them. I do know that both on the ship and at the resort I was cautioned about paying anything on my account that I hadn't used yet as anything paid with the reward dollars would be non-refundable. you must have a truckload of reward dollars if you plan to use them for the entire trip.

You CAN use your reward dollars to pay off your KTTW account at your resort--thus, you can use it for your tips!

I don't know about a truck load. But we already have tickets from a trip that we couldn't go on because of a truck fire (long story) and we're hoping for free dining.

All we would have to pay for is the room, 1 day base ticket & tips. My husband & I each have a Disney Visa & my mom has one too. She will be staying in the same room with us and DD3, so we're only paying for 3/4 of the room cost.

Reward dollars are refundable in some cases....we booked our trip in Oct. and paid for half of it with reward dollars. Two weeks before, we were offered free dining and had to cancel the first reservation and pay in full for the new one (so I used a credit card). The reward dollars were refunded back to our rewards card.

Interesting. Maybe I'll write to Disney & get an official response. That way I'd have proof rather than saying 'the Cast Member on the phone said'. I don't need to make my ADR's until March, so that should be plenty of time.

disney dollars are refundable.. i just used 1300 of mine on my trip last week and we changed reservations (paid for with the points) many times and everytime it was refunded instantly

In Sept. we went on the free dining but wanted to get the Hoop-Dee-Doo and pay for that from our rewards card (this freed up 2 TS each for dinners elsewhere). At the time we booked which was 180 days out we had not transferred the money onto the rewards card yet so we used our credit card to hold the ADR for the Hoop and when we went to pick up our Hoop tickets at the front desk we had them transfer the charge from the credit card to the rewards card. So maybe you could use your credit card not and transfer it when you get there to the rewards card like we did.
