Visa Rewards and tips

I just read on the budget board that it is possible to tip with a visa rewards card. They said something about guest services adding it on they give you envelopes.

Can anyone give me more information?

If they're giving you envelopes, it sounds like it means they would take $$ from your card, and hand you cash in return. You would then put it in the envelopes for the tips you want to hand out. For example, this is what I do at my hairdresser - they add extra to my bill on my debit card, and give me back cash that I put in an envelope for the tip.

I never use cash at the resort front desk, but I'm guessing they still have cash back there?
