Does anyone here have any experience claiming Reward points from their Disney Visa card? How long does it really take to receive the certificates?
And, where is really the best place to buy park tix in advance? And, can we use the reward certificates there? Any help would be appreciated.

Curiuos, too. We now have a pretty good chunk of reward dollars bulit up.

I have seen posts from others staying it takes about a week to get the rewards. It did not seem to matter if the rewards were requested via the internet or the phone.

I would think the only place you could buy park tix ahead of time with the rewards certificates would be at the Disney store in your mall.

Just make sure you get the right reward certificate. They are different if you plan on spending them at DisneyLand, DisneyWorld, or the Disney store.

I have also seen other posts that mention you don't get change back. You better buy something that costs just slightly more then the dollar value of the certificate you are using.

we have redeemed many of our reward dollars already. Basically, you can go to the bank one/disney website, pull up your account information; choose "manage rewards" and go from there. Some things to remember:
1. You get $1 for every $100 you charge
2. You can only redeem the rewards in increments of 10 reward dollars -- so, you need to have spent $1000 or more, to accrue 10 reward dollars.
3. you have to choose the correct reward certificates -- disney store, disneyland, disneyword
4. you place an order -- for example if you have 20 reward dollars in your account, you can get 2 $10 certificates.
5. as long as you don't ask for express shipping, they mail them to you for free
6. we have gotten ours every time on about the 5th or 6th mail day after placing the order on line.
7. You are able to cash out your rewards as soon as a credit card statement issues where you have spent the money and earned the rewards. Our statement gets run on the 12th of the month, so on that day I go to the website and order the certificates, which have been known to arrive before the actual bill!
8. You won't get change back when you spend the certificates, so I would suggest getting $10 certificates instead of $20 certificates so you can spend them in smaller increments.
9. we used them in merchandise stores and in restaurants without any problems at all -- all CMs seemed familiar with them and there was no problem using them.

Our reward dollars (190 for having run $19,000 through the credit card) paid for all our meals out during our romantic, no-kids trip last month. Very cool. We didn't want to use them on this trip because we were afraid my parents or in-laws would think we were getting free meals!

Disney Store is best place to get tickets at the advance price. I was just at one of our local Disney Stores and noticed that AP and PAPs are now available there as well. I was told you buy the certificate and activate it when you get to WDW. So monitoring when AP prices increase and buying just before may make sense for some. But please check with the DS CMs and the fine print before you purchase!

Thanks for all the info. I had asked a similar question last week. We're headed to WDW in Oct. I've got about 190 reward $ and plan on cashing them in to take with us. I may wait until the middle of September or get them now and keep saving for the next trip.

Thanks for all the good info. I'm still curious if anyone could not use the certificates anywhere. Any experience with that?

So to buy park passes at the Disney store you woudl need to order Disney store certificates instead of Disneyworld certificates?

With the APs at the Disne Store is there a better avance purschase liek the regular park hoppers and they give you a certificate that you atcivate once you get to Disneyworld then when does the date start - from the day you bought them or when you arrive at Disneyworld at activate them?

Thansk!

I just redeemed points for Disney Store certificates. It took about 6 days to receive them after I ordered them. I put them towards an annual pass voucher. The CM at the Disney Store was very familiar with them. She said they were just like the gift cards.

There was an expiration date on the certificates (12/31/04)

-DC :)

I cashed out $30 in rewards for the Disney Store intending to use them toward park hoppers, but was told that I couldn't at my local store by CM and manager. I tried to use the same cards at WDW since the on-phone rep said they could be used for merchandise at any store in the parks. WRONG! I was unable to use them there as well. So... I still have $30 in rewards that have not been used, and my trip was almost 2 months ago. I was disappointed that the CMs did not seem to know what they were talking about, and that now people are being allowed to use them at the stores for tix. I had considered cancelling the card since it seemed difficult to use, but I'm sticking with it, just waiting to cash out any more rewards for the meantime.
