Hi All!
Realized that I need to get Visa or American express gift cards for my parents for their upcoming trip. Can someone recommend the least expensive place to get them? Thank you! :) :)

There's really no "least expensive place" (issuance fees tend to run about $4 to $5) - I would recommend checking-out either Walmart/Target, or your bank/credit union, for starters...

If your mall is a Simon Mall the fee is 2.95... the cards are good anywhere that Amex or Visa (depending on your choice) is accepted.

Check with your local bank. I have a personal checking acct with Chase and can buy Visa gift cards without any additional fees.

That is a great idea! Thanks so much. I may decide to go the Travelers Checks route. The Visa, Amex, etc. I was looking at some today and they are only good in the United States and they are planning a trip to Europe.

Thank you for all the advice everyone!

If you are a AAA member, check with them. My AAA waives the fees if you purchase 5 or more American Express gift cards.

If you have an American Express card, you can order them from their website with no service fees.

I think the AMEX ones are easier to use. For example, if you have funds remaining, the VISA ones are more difficult to use. You have to know the exact amount to tell the cashier. With AMEX, you swipe it and the system recognizes the amount.

Not always true...it depends on a merchant's system.

Where I work, our system recognizes ONLY our own branded gift cards. Any third-party gift card requires us to manually key in the amount being charged against the available amount and if the amount being charged is even one penny more than the balance on the card, it will deny the entire sale.

Our customers must know the balance of their third party cards before we will process them for a sale.
