Visa Gift Card Dining

We were looking at picking up $100 Visa gift cards from Walmart tonight, we can use them just a like a credit card/debit card, but on the card it states will not work if the place you are at requires a pin number to deduct money. Do the Dinesy restaurants require a pin number how about other places do they? I really don't want to carry cash nor use the credit card the whole time and this idea seemed good, in a way it is like a travelers check but in the form of a card. Any feedback?

If your staying on Disney property and don't want to carry cash or a cc, why don't you just put funds against your room key? You can then keep track of purchases and it's accepted everywhere in WDW.

These cards will also NOT let you charge the full amount of the card for the bill at a restaurant or bar, because both matercard's and visa's systems ASSUMES that you will need to put a tip on the card as well, so if you have a 130.00 bill and have two $100.00 gift cards and you try to use 100.00 on one Visa gift card and 30.00 from the other, it won't let you use up the whole $100.00 (it gives the restaurant an error message that it exceeds the limit of the gift card) I think the most it will let you do is around 87.00 (if I recall correctly), then you can put the other 13.00 on the tip line, to make use the full 100.00. It's really a pain in the a$$ to deal with (especially for the waiter at busy times), but if you know it ahead of time, you can avoid the whole situation by making sure you don't try and use the full amount remaining on the card anywhere that there is a "tip" line on the receipt (including your hairdressers, nail salon, etc). I use them quite often as that's what I ususally get for my Credit Card rewards. They're great as long as you know this little "oddity" about them.
