Visa Debit Card accepted?

I plan to use my debit card, which is actually a Visa to purchase:

(1) an upgrade to a PHP ticket at MK Guest Services
(2) admission tix to Busch Gardens
(3) a one day admission to the MK for a friend, and
(4) admission tix to Universal & Islands of Adventure

Is there any reason you can think of why I wouldn't be able to use this card for all four purchases?

The only time I've ever had trouble was using it to rent a car, because they don't (or at least didn't in 1999) accept debit cards for rental car deposits.

I can't imagine any of these places not accepting Visa, but I thought I would check to be sure! :sunny:

Thanks,
Jon

As long as you have sufficient funds in the account and do not exceed the maximum for single purchases or daily limit, you should be fine. The Mouse can be very accomodating when it comes to taking your money.:)

tried to book the cruise with it.. 800.00 down payment. there the first compnay to ever decline the card....

but then again there the first to ever ask for those 3 little numbers on the back.. I have to fedex all my payments......

I have no limits on the card except for available funds and atm withdrawl of 500, which i've actually surpassed in the past..

My debit card has the three security numbers on the back. I have used it at WDW almost exclusively and never had a problem.

We have made several trips and used the Visa logo debit/checking card and never had any problem. Our bank just switched to Mastercard last October and haven't had a problem using that either. Even paid for $1100 worth of Disney passes with it with out a problem.

One good note for the switch, I was able to get a free pass for USO/IOA when I bought 4. Oh yea, more money for Mickey and friends::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I use budget car rental for renting a car with a debit card and have not had any trouble. I signed up for their perfect drive program. You have to print out a paper fill it out and fax it back in. This paper contains all your personal preferences.
Then you will get a budget perfect drive card in the mail.

Simply make your reservations using your card .

Then when you go to pick up your car all you will have to show is the credit or debit card, budget card and drivers license. Nothing to sign they simple hand you your keys.

budget is my preferred car rental company.

If you use debit cards for car rentals you might want to cruise over to transporation board. I posted about an article I read. Some rental car companies are actually doing a credit check when you rent and it could come back to haunt you!

FYI

Just saw this on one of the morning talk shows. Thanks to a class action law suit from merchants, within the next 3 years all debit/charge cards will be changed and must have the word debit on the card itself. Said that merchants are charged when consumers use the charge feature of the debit card. Sounded like Walmart may begin declining them, but did not specify when. I think this was on Good Morning America.

Call your bank and see what the transaction limit and 24 hour charge limit is on your card (if there is one). Mine is something like $350/transaction and $500/24 hours. I had mine declined while trying to pay for my resort because I forgot about that part. The bank will usually let you increase the limits if that's what you want to do.

I just used a debit card to pay the 1st nights stay on our room at the PC and I had no problem and they only asked for the card's regular numbers.

The reservation lady on the phone was in Utah!

I can't wait to got to Disney!!!!

Hertz will take debit cards for rental if you are a member of the #1 Club or #1 Gold. It has to be in your profile.

My debit card also doesn't have a limit if I use it as a Visa for transactions.

We used our debit card last time with one small problem most debit cards have a 10-15 transaction limit per day. WE found this out after my sister-in-law and DW went nuts in 8 stores in little over an hour we went to go eat and the debit card had been basically turned off for the day. It is also not possible to call them have them verify your identity and turn it back on (we tried). As for amounts we have purchased as much as 2500 dollars in one purchase on our debit card with no problem, of course that amount has to be in your account.

I used my debit card to pay for first night's stay at All Star Movies AND for my cruise deposit- no problem and they didn't ask me for the 3 littlenumbers on the back-- weird

Make sure you let your bank know that you will be travelling, I went to use mine in Florida for $12 and they declined it and then called my house to let me know that someone was trying to use my card in Florida. Lucky me, my husband was home and he could get the call, he told them it was me but they still wanted me to call and verify. He called me on the cell phone and I had to call the clearing house that they use to let them know.
The same thing happened when I went to Spain with my other check card , and both times I had warned the banks. In this case I called my husband at home and asked him to call my credit union, didn't have a problem after that but I could have really been stranded.
I do not rely on cards, I'd rather take travellers checks with me.

we used a debit card as our"credit card" to charge to our room at check in. they give you $500. increments which when you reach you go in, they charge it all through and you get another $500.( husband did this so not sure if they ask what limit you want or just give you one). we had previously put all other prepaid charges (vouchers, room) on it ...nice not to have to use a cc as we just put our vacation money in that account and nothing else so we knew how much we were spending and no bill waiting when we got home. our debit card says "debit" on it and have never had anyone decline it.

We have ALWAYS used our Debit Card with Visa logo and thankfully Never had an issue. We just paid for our POFQ ressie in full with it. Our bank has no limit (provided we have the funds of course), and we have put some major charges on it in the past. I have not, however, been able to rent a car with it although I am now intrigued with what I have read here regarding Budget and the other rental company that has allowed it in the past for some. We do not plan on renting a car this time around, but if we DO decide, it would be nice to do so with the debit card. We also use Travelers Cheques so that we have no bills when we come home. We like it all paid in advance and I would LOVE to be able to just give them extra money now for our trip in March - April, but since I can't I will just get Travelers Cheques or Disney Dollars and hope I dont misplace them (OR the AP!!). I am SOOOOO excited!!!

all i can suggest is check with your bank for your daily limit max my sister had a problem because my debit has a daily limit of 3000.00 for purchases and 500 daily limit for cash withdrawl but her bank daily limit was 350.00 not saying you spend that much money in one day, but she got a bit excited on her first trip buying things

yeah, those banks can be such party poopers, they should really have a disney exchange rate ;) !

I'm too dangerous with a real credit card, but that's another thread!!!!

We did have a probably when we bought our computer in December. We had to call the bank and get them to extend the limit to cover the computer, which they can do. I think they up'ed it to $2200. I think the regular amt for our bank is $1500 in one day.

As for car rental. You also need to check with the car rental company. They may except your debit card, but they may put a hold on a certain amt of money like $250. It will go back into your acct when you return the car and pay, but if you are not ready and are expecting that money to be there to use while you are in WDW, than it may upset you some! This goes the same if you present a debit card when you check into a hotel. They will sometimes hold a portion and it takes a few days until it releases again! Learned the hard way, but now I always ask when we rent a car or check into a hotel.

Just some FYI....

I work for a bank. Walmart is the store that started that class action suit. Merchants will now have a choice on whether or not they want to accept the check card. Many banks are considering lowering the fees to make the card still attractive to accept. Banks never charged more than regular credit fees. Walmart was just P.O.ed that they had too pay the same fees for debit cards as credit cards. I don't think this will have too much of an impact on your average comsumer. As for using the card for card rentals ... they will autherize much more than the full rental charge which may freeze up more of your fund sthan you expected. Prior to this lawsuit the car rental co. had no choice they HAD to accept your visa check card. Now they have a choice.
