I was think about getting a prepaid card, the Visa Debit card, so I can know exactly what I am spending and not have debt when I go home. But the question is- Does Disney accept the Visa debit card with the VIsa logo for purchases in the park??
Does anyone know??
I have checked the DIS and mousesavers.com and nothing.
THANKS< DEE :earsgirl:

I have a Disney visa credit card and the Disney visa rewards card that WDW very gladly accepts anywhere CCs are accepted, but I didn't know about the Disney debit card. I think Disney will pretty much accept your first born if he has the word "Disney" stamped on his bottom.

We used Visa debit cards on our Disney trip -- paid the rental car, hotel, used it at the grocery store, too. DS also had his own Visa card w/his money.

The Visa pre-paid debit cards are accepted all over WDW -- restaurants, shops, etc. We did not have anyone turn ours down. It works just like a credit card - you charge and sign. Simple. Nobody hassled us, asked questions.

We loved the convenience ... but be warned ... they will hold an additional 20% when you use them in a restaurant. They will put that amount back once it clears. DH says they do this for regular credit cards, too ... just in case you decide to include a tip on the card after they've ran the general amount through. Anyway, by the 2nd day, the difference was added back in.

We had no problems using ours at all! You will need to call the toll-free number on the card to get your card balance. There was no way of knowing what the balance was w/o adding up receipts.

Have a great time!!

We actually had to open a credit line so that we could rent a car, other than that we use our debit cards for everything, including Disney.
Be forwarned- take your Driver's license! Disney checks your DL to your card everytime. When I buy anything Disney (Land, World, mall store etc) I know to just go ahead and pull out the DL.

I have never been asked for any ID when using my debit card (MC logo, if that matters) or credit card. Wonder if this is new since Feb?

Is your picture and signature on the card itself? Maybe that's why? We were there last in 2001 and they were adamant about seeing my license. At Disneyland in Oct 2003 it was the same story. I am also an advid Disney store shopper and they too always ask for it. No complaints, I would rather them ask, it's for my protection anyways. I don't ever sign the back of my cards for this reason, that could be the cause too. Once the CM's notice my Texas license, it opens the opportunity for them to ask all kinds of questions- sometimes silly stereotypical ones. We were once asked if we lived on a ranch and rode horses- "no" by the way. haha I guess Texas' licenses are designed differently from other states as well, because CM's always have trouble finding my name. Very rarely does one get it on a first glance, I guess those that do are the seasoned credit card authorities.

The fact that you don't sign your card is why you are asked for ID.
I used to sign mine with " ask for ID", never ever leave them blank, if you lose them, then the finder's sig. becomes "your" sig.
My picture is not on my card, but, my sig. is.
I most definitely do not mind being asked for ID, but, it never happens.

Thanks for the info. I had never thought about anyone signing my card and using it. It's hard to think like a criminal!!! I will defintely put "check ID" on them from now on.
Thanks,
Tracey

I use my VISA debit card all the time all over WDW. They more often than not look and make sure the signatures match. But that is it.

LOL, I don't think like a criminal either, but, rather a bank employee. We get taught nifty things like this. :)

Sorry!
I didn't mean to imply that YOU think like a criminal either haha!
I hope that no offense was taken...

Tracey,
Absolutely no offense taken. :) And, I know you did not imply that I am a criminal. :)

Yup - don't leave it blank!!! I have found blank cards a couple of different times. It would have been so easy to just sign the back and off I go. However, I am a bonded bank employee also!!

However, I believe the only place right now giving flack on debit cards is WM. You cannot use a MC branded debit card without the PIN. This eliminates the use of a webcertificate plastic card at WM. (Other than car rentals).
