Virtual Queue Practice from Home?

pixiedust:Good Luck at Noon!pixiedust:

Thanks!!! Got it!!!!! Now I can relax!

OP-if they are still doing boarding groups for your trip and you don’t get 7:00 - I recommend being over on the little trail behind Grizzly River Run- very empty and high internet speed yesterday. For Rise we were sitting on the ledge by the fantasyland theatre (mo shows right now)- high speed not crowded and the people next to its got it too.

Just tried at home for the noon time, and ROTR was gone pretty quickly again, but Web is still showing me the 'join virtual queue' button at 12:18. Seems like ROTR is definitely the harder one to get still, even though Web is newer.

Wow, I am so happy for you. Now you have to report back on how you enjoy the experience!

I had the exact same experience testing at home for the noon drop.

Good luck to everyone trying at the parks, and I'll hope for the best in a few weeks.

Thank you! Wow- just Wow!!!!! Definitely worth all the trouble.

We wound up being in line for an hour and fifteen minutes once our boarding group was called- but it was worth it!!!!!!
Missed our Oga’s by 17 minutes and when we told them how long we had been in the Rise line - they said it didn’t matter that it was too late and we would be charged the no show. I said I did not think that was fair when we had no control over when our boarding group was called and when we had no idea we would be in line that long because it wasn’t posted and when you really have to work to get that boarding group - that I didn’t care if we didn’t get in- but I didn’t think we should be charged- they called someone and got it taken care of for us and got us into Oga’s too. It was a good night!
Good luck to everyone trying!

Do you still need to be in the park before you can start trying for ROTR? My kids have been looking forward to this ride for so long now, I need to figure out the best strategy for getting a boarding group.

We have hoppers. If I start at DCA, is it possible I might get a ROTR boarding group for the afternoon? Or should I not even try for ROTR until a day I'm starting at Disneyland?

At 7:00 AM you can get a BG for Rise or WS depending on your starting park from anywhere. To get a BG at 12:00 PM you have to have already scanned into a park and completed the ride if you got a BG at 7:00 AM. Either way, you can only ride each ride once per day. If you start at DCA you can get WS in the morning and as long as you ride before 12 try for Rise at 12. You should try for the BG you qualify for at every chance you have because they are competitive and there is not guarantee.

At 7:00 am you don’t have to be in the park, you just have to have a reservation for that park for the day. At noon you just have to have scanned in to one of the parks. Unless you are going in a low crowd time- I would say have them prepared for the possibility you won’t get it. The mornings were a lot harder for us to get anything than noon. Noon was definitely where we had the most success. Yesterday we got Webslingers in the morning which was the only day of our 5 day trip we ever were successful in the morning. Sadly it didn’t get called until right after noon so we didn’t get to try for Rise yesterday- I was wishing I had just not even tried at 7:00 and waited to try for Rise at noon, especially since we failed at getting ROTR again this morning and at noon we probably wont get a boarding pass that gets called before we have to leave. We have been here 5 days and tried for Rise every day but yesterday and got it once- 2 days ago at noon. Crowds are high now- so if you are lucky to hit lower crowds you will have a greater chance of success.

if it is a priority- I would put a speed test app on your phone to be sure you have good speed from where you are trying and move around if it isn’t high. Find a quiet spot at noon with high speed. If you are in CA- the area over by Grizzly River Run is good.

I read on.a different thread that we can't do a virtual try from home for ROTR. Am I understanding that as of now we can practice getting it...just to see how it feels?

Can someone please tell me how people are "trying at home" for joining boarding groups? I just don't understand how you can do it? I go to the app and I don't have the option to try to join the queue. I've got a 4-day park hopper pass with reservations for Nov. 11-15, haven't received my tickets yet. Should I be able to do this trial run or, am I missing something?

So all of you who feel the need to practice, what happens if you actually get it but are not close enough - or have a ticket - to get there? You've taken a spot from someone actually there, which doesn't seem fair - and seems like it could contribute to the shortage.

Good question. The system won't let you get a BG if you don't have a ticket or park reservation for that day. So you can't take a spot from someone else by practicing.

I can't speak to what it looks like if you don't have a ticket linked at all--I already had my tickets linked when I first looked into this. But this is what I found when I asked about this a few weeks back.

This morning, I went to the "Virtual Queues" then clicked "Join Virtual Queue" at 7 am on the dot. Again, drawing on past experience at WDW, refreshing took valuable seconds vs. clicking "Join Virtual Queue" exactly at the drop time.

I haven't looked since then, but most everyone else is clicking from the Home Screen and doing a refresh. I resigned myself to just wait until day of and hope for the best. Things are just a tiny bit different from WDW.

What exact time is everyone being most successful to hit refresh? 6:59:59? 7:00:00? Also I really don’t understand how people can be practicing from home now that they’ve changed it so you confirm your party ahead of time

Thanks. I've been curious how it works without taking spots away from people.
