Has anyone used their points to trade here. If so was it easy to get into, did you need to do this way in advance? And if you got in which resort did you trade for? Was it nice. Please give me as much info as you can. Thanks so much, Gina

I am in VA Beach every month for work and I hate the place.
I would not waste points here. There is not much to do in VA Beach, no boardwalk, no rides and only a few good restaurants. The traffic is awful year round and there are a lot if military bases near the beach and you hear planes day and night.
Yes Busch Gardens and williamgburg is only about 50 miles away but traffic can be hit or miss getting over the bay.

It is an ok place for a long weekend but I wouldn't waste points.

It is difficult, from what I experienced to trade to one of the Virginia Beach II trades. We tried 2 summers ago and were not successful. You can view the II resorts that trade with DVC and see them if you want.

We did trade into a Marriott at Ford's Colony in williamsburg and it was fantastic.Great resort accomodations and facilities, on a golf course and close to Colonial williamsburg, Busch Gardens, but a good drive to Virginia Beach (an hour or more).

I used starwood points to stay at Sheraton in Virginia Beach and it was an OK vacation. We were right on the beach and weather was good and many good restaurants, but don't know if I would return soon.

Hey Gina,

Maybe you have a particular reason for wanting to go to VA Beach, but I have to agree with Jenni.

Now, maybe being there every month makes her overly hate the place, but unless you are going to stay in some elegant beach house, I don't see the attraction. Our beaches in VA are not the cleanest.

Maybe you might consider HHI. Longer drive for sure, but nothing in our state beats a real DVC beach resort, and you're getting the best value for your points.

Sorry. Don't mean to dissappoint... Just my point of view.

You need to plan ahead but IMO none of the resorts on the exchange list are an especially good deal using your points to trade to unless you have some pressing reason that it must be Virginia Beach. Of those on the list, the newest and likely nicest one is the Ocean Beach Club. I'd put Turtle Cay last of the 3. OBC does not have Sat check ins, only Fri and Sun if I recall correctly.

I too have to agree....there is nothing at VA Beach in my opinion. We have visited and I can't imagine using my precious Disney points there. Try HH. ;)

Hi, Thanks for your honest opinons. We are trying for HHI and I'm waitlisted and don't like not having the vacation finalized. But looks like I should just hold off and wait. :)

my family wants to take a vacation 12/28/08 to 1/2/09. my dad has ownership at BW and we would need 3 two bedroom units. My DB & DS decided they want to do HHI. is there any chance of getting 3 two bedrooms at 7 months. what activities would be there for 3 17yo, 1 15yr, 2 13 yo & 2 11 yo. we would have a total of 19 people in the party. thanks for any ideas--time is very tight--we have school teachers and contractors that cannot take off during the school year. we also have points that need to be used ASAP. Dad US is April--he has points banked from past year--can we use those for a december trip. Thanks for any help
