hi all:wave:
i was wondering do i need to go to the welcome meeting to get the free refill mugs and the park picture,i was planning on taking advantage of being up early on the first day and get a head start on the parks::yes:: anyone been lately and know the answer

thanks eve::MinnieMo

I am not sure what free gifts are available these days at the welcome meeting.

If it is your first time in Orlando it may well be worth going, I am sure you could pick up some useful tips/maps etc..

Otherwise unless you are collecting any park tickets or anything I would not bother.

hi johnny:wave:
sorry i should have explained a little better:rolleyes: when travelling with virgin and staying at a flagship hotel(all star movies in our case)you get 2 free refill mugs a photo of your choice in a park and 2 cinema tickects i was just wondering if these items get left in your room or do you get them from the reps at the meeting:D this will be our second trip and we have all our passes so hoping not too have to do the welcome thing::yes::

thanks eve:D

Hi Eve :smooth:

Guess it may be worth checking with your hotel the day you arrive.
Could well be that they keep a supply for Virgin guests.

At least you will know then whether you need to go to the Welcome Meeting.
Must admit it is years since we went to one, just want to get on with our holiday.

hi johnny:wave2:
thanks, hopefully they will have the freebies in the room but i do doubt it very much:rolleyes: i wouldn't go to the meeting if it was just the cinema tickects but those refill mugs are worth the dollars::yes::

You can be certain you will have to go to the welcome meeting to pick these up.

There is so much money to be made from selling attraction tickets Virgin need to tempt people to go to the welcome meeting.

hi kazzie:wave2:
i have just email virgin to find out,but i'm sure i'll have to go to the meeting:rolleyes: altough aren't the meetings now at the flagship hotels, this will be a little better than going all the way to dtd::yes:: in my email i have ask if i could just pick these up from the rep in the hotel so we shall wait and see:D

I have been reading alot of trip reports recently and I think that at the All stars Movie which is a virgin flagship you get the cinema tickets, 2 refillable cups and a photo voucher when you check in at reception.

Have a look at some of the trip reports on here or on other boards to try and find out but I have read this a few times!

hope this helps

Eve,
That would be great if you can pick up the Virgin special offer at your hotel.

When I went to the Virgin meeting a couple of years ago to pick up free ticckets to Arabian Nights, the Virgin staff there refused to give me the tickets unless I stayed for the presentation.Whatever it is Virgin advertise with the free stuff the reality is the staff in the US want you to stay and book attraction tickets that they make commision from.

I was bolshie and insisted they give me the tickets without my staying,as there is nowhere in the Virgin brochure that states you have to stay at the presentation to be given the free tickets. It wasn't pleasant having to be insistent like that and have the person be stroppy with me:mad:

hi:wave:

jo,that would be great if i got them upon check-in::yes:: i'll have a route around the trip reports to see if i can find out:D

karen, isn't it horrible when you have to be pushey to get what you want:rolleyes: well my dh has always told me i'm too bolshie so mabye this will come in handy while i'm there::yes:: there is nothing that virgin can tell you at these meetings that we don't already know,i have told them this in my email to them, i will let you know what they say when they get back to me:D

We were given the wrong location for the welcome meeting on arrival at the airport in Feb. Our hotel ended up ringing Virgin for us to find out where it was and they said the rep would wait for us. When got to the correct hotel it was just us and the rep.

We told him we had all our park tickets and a car but he still told us about the excursions anyway. The only thing I was interested in was the 'Kids eat free' card for $15. He told us that some unscrupulous reps try to sell two of these cards to a family of four, when you only actually need one, and when I offered him a $20 TC he asked if I had anything smaller and then proceeded to put the $15 cash I gave him in his back pocket. No reciept was offered and I am 100% sure he pocketed the money himself.

He then tried to pack up and leave in a bit of a hurry until I reminded him about the free Hard Rock meal voucher, to which he claimed 'oh sorry, I forgot' and then he reluctantly printed out the voucher.

The Hard Rock voucher is actually worth having. It includes soft drinks (free refills too) anything from the kids menu and a choice of about 4 or 5 main adult meals, I think it says it also includes gratuity but I still felt obliged to tip the waitress who was really pleasant and not at all stuffy about the fact we were on a 'freebie'

hi keasden:wave:

wow:earseek: he don't sound like someone virgin should have working as a rep
thank you for your reply anyway:D

You get the flagship benefits at the hotel when you check in.

It's the Hard Rock meal vouchers you have to go to the welcome meeting to pick up.

hi nemo:wave:
