Virgin Voyages comparison

Don't forget Bingo with the Diva...that was a ton of fun too!!!

In regards to the crew...if you speak with many of them you find that most came from other cruise lines, even Disney, and are much happier on Virgin. One of the reasons is that they don't have to bug you about good reviews and tips. The other cool thing is that no one is walking around in "whites" (ship's officers). You really can't tell who they are, it's all very casual.
I actually won the first game!! 316 dollars and it was so much fun. I was so scared to call it as one of the Diva rules if you fake it you get exiled to the library. lol !

the only review request was on disembarkation they had on the elevator and other screens a picture of Richard Branson asking to give a review and there were QR codes for CC and I believe tripadivori?

I too am a DCL fan, but our last 2 trips were on virgin. Something to note, they match or exceed your rewards tier on another cruise line. I am Platinum on DCL, so I am a top tier rewards member automatically on Virgin (I do not remember their plan name). In the top tier, you get a higher internet plan included free, 1 laundry service, one free upgraded coffee each day, a reception, some money on a drink tab, priority boarding, and a couple other minor things too.
Really! I wonder what we would get for Pearl? That's definitely good to know though. Thanks!

Placement at the mid-tier loyalty level (usually received after 2 sailings). Mid-tier status lasts 2 cruises, then you are at current top tier.

What’s your point? Are you saying I can’t seek out comprehensive coverage of something and know fairly certain it’s not for me?
I’m just saying that I would wait to try something out myself before I made a decision on it and not depend on what some reviewer on YouTube said. For everyone you can find that has one opinion, you can find another that has another opinion.

I think it’s just like Lookout Cay in that I am waiting until I actually visit there before I decide if I like it or not…

This is lovely in theory, but most people don’t have extra money to throw away on vacations that they feel might not appeal to them just to try it out. Money and time for many are finite resources.

For those who have sailed Virgin, did you sail in a regular room? Or a suite? If you have sailed both did you think the suite was worth it? What are the perks of a suite? Looking at a trip for my DH for his birthday next year.

Personally, I have only sailed in balcony stateroom. But the suites have great perks. There are 2 suite levels...RockStar Quarters and Mega RockStar Quarters. The RockStar Quarters receive access to Richard's Rooftop, limited in-room bar, early booking/priority access to dining, shore excursions, etc. and RockStar agents to assist you.

Mega RockStar Quarters receive all of the above, plus Daily Bar Tab (drinks); daily access to the Thermal Suite in the spa, complimentary transfers or parking, bottomless in-room bar, Mega RockStar Agent, premium Wi-fi.

Did you like the balcony rooms? We have never sailed concierge before so I’m afraid I’ll really like it lol

Did you have issues booking dining or anything?any tips or suggestions if we are considering sailing with them? Virgin is on our short list for our next cruise.

I'm fine with a balcony room for most sailings. If you book early enough, there is no issue with getting dine. Please email me at kerry@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com for additional information.

We have only been in Balconies (Sea Terrace), but I’m sure that the Rockstar quarters are nice.

Did you have issues booking anything? Curious about dining since they don’t have a MDR. Thanks!

We were a party of 2 with no issues booking dining when our window opened. On board we even changed time/venue as we got a better feel of everything. I really enjoyed VV! Booked another trip when it comes to west coast.
We had a sea terrace cabin FWIW and it was perfect for what we needed it to do.
There is a pretty detailed YT video about all the restaurants that may be helpful.

It is really easy to book dining. You use their app. You will likely wind-up rebooking in the app as you get a feel for things on the ship and the realities of your excursions. It is really easy to rebook.

The one real complaint I have about everything is the app however. It is buggy and crashes often. I also do not like the way it bounces you out of your current area when you click back it often makes you manually navigate all the way back to where you were. It does allow you to do everything in it, but it is clunky.

Side note, you can get a paper copy of the lineup of events at sailor services. (Like the paper navigator on DCL.)

I've sailed in a Sea Terrace and loved it, but the Rockstar Quarters are great and the perks that come with them are impressive. (And the Mega Rockstar Quarters perks are even better.)

It's very much like DCL in that if you (or your TA) hop on the app as soon as you are eligible to book dining, you'll find plenty of availability. Put the date on your calendar (or have your TA put the date on their calendar and give them your dining wish list.)

We sailed in their inaugural year in an XL sea terrace, decided I really wanted to try a rockstar cabin the next year so we booked onboard for the Sweet Aft Suite I believe it’s called, it was the one right above The Dock directly on the aft of the ship - wow!
The balcony was GINORMOUS, loved the window in the shower lol, we had a full bar in the room that we had to take home all of it in our checked luggage because we had so much free bar tab promotion on that cruise that we couldn’t even touch it. We liked the champagne hour every evening on Richard’s rooftop, and we had a golf cart to take us to the beach club at Bimini instead of the tram ( like Castaway Cay). I think the bed was more comfortable in the suite, but that didn’t stop us from booking an XL sea terrace for our third cruise…the prices had gone up, and we decided to save the money because the XL sea Terrace was perfectly fine for us.
So on our third cruise, 2023, we noticed one thing that didn’t seem to bother us before about the XL terrace, but was annoying enough to put in a survey…there is no door on the entire bathroom, just a door for the shower and a door for the toilet, which was fine for us, we are used to getting ready with each other and sharing the bathroom together, but I would imagine it might be awkward for people not used to that. What annoyed us was that if someone got up early in the morning or middle of night and turned the light on, it was soooo bright in the cabin! I suggested they put some kind of curtain up.
So for our fourth cruise this November we booked a central sea terrace, to save some money…again, prices have been increasing…so we will have the smaller bathroom, but I’m sure it will be fine :) I have been in one of the regular central sea terraces to see the bathroom, it is small but it will be fine, the balcony is same size.

Just put a reminder on your calendar to book when dining opens and you will be fine, i was in charge of making the dining for five of us and I got what I wanted when our booking opened. We did want to change one and I tried to like a couple weeks before and they didn’t have what I wanted, so I had to go to Razzle Dazzle when we got onboard and they changed it for me for what we needed.

If you are interested in any of the paid events, book as soon as you get in the waiting area before you board, hook up to their Wi-Fi and do it. We have done the Grog Walk a couple times, the Lotteria, Painting with Boozie Bevvies, Shot for Shot, I can’t remember the name of the one with the competing bartenders but that was fun and so much to drink! lol
I have heard that you can’t book the shows beforehand anymore, you have to line up now, but that might change back, idk? I hope so. In any case, DO NOT MISS Dual Reality.
