if i book a virgin package and go for the free transfers, what are they like? do they use the magical express or do they do their own transfers? are they any good?
if you've used them in the past, where did you stay and how long did it take you to get there? (i dont want to spend 2 or 3 hours waiting for them to drop me off at our hotel!!)

thanks in advance

we have used this service before, no complaints. they use mears shuttle transfers. once your van is ready, about 2/3 groups you are off and on your way to your hotel. usually 1 or 2 drop-offs.

on our return leg we checked in early at DTD and caught the mears shuttle from there later in the day.

it was a mears coach when we used it, the DCL ones though.

We used them a few times, mostly it was a Disney coach, once it was a Mears coach, they ususally drop off at a couple of Disney hotels before yours but it doesn't take long. Never had any problems :thumbsup2

we used them once and it was mears, cant remember how long it took but i dont think it was excessive

Has anyone got Virgin to book Magical Express for them?

I assumed we could use DME as we're staying at the Yacht Club.. but Virgin Holidays gave us the option of picking up our hire car from MCO and driving to the hotel.. or.. taking their transfer buses to the YC and having the hire car sent to the hotel when we wanted it (at a charge of £400 ish i think?!)

I phoned Disney to try book DME myself, but they said that our travel agent should add it to our room booking?

Ideally, two of our party would go get the car at MCO, while the rest of us take DME to the YC... i don't fancy trying to get 8 people and 8 + suitcases in a hire car either!!

any help appreciated lol

Barbie princess:

book online and just leave the ref number blank.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/reservations/dme/index

you will need to click on the link a few times to get it to work.

Wow thank you so much! I have been trying to get on disneyworld.com for ages but always thrown back to the uk site.. a couple more clicks and I was through!

That's all booked now .. one more thing to cross off the pre-trip 'to do' list!

What happens about the yellow luggage tags? It says that the DME booklet is only sent to US/Canada .. but when I've booked DME through DVC they still sent us the booklet?

Thank you again Claire!

They stopped sending out the booklets a couple of months ago, you can still use the luggage collection service if you want though, you give them the luggage receipt tags you get from the airline when you check in your luggage.

Thanks for that info too

You've saved me an awkward phone conversation with Virgin Holidays trying to convince them to add DME to our booking rather than use their transfer buses! ;)

I wish I was going tomorrow now, and not have to wait another 16 weeks! lol
