Just got off the phone to Virgin to choose my seats outbound when she informed me that as of a few days ago they have changed their policy and now you can book your seats 11 months in advance. Thought I would give you all the heads up.

If your interested you could try and rent points from a member for your stay it frequently works out cheaper than booking direct. if your interested then check out the DVC rent / trade board.
I wasn't sure from your posting if you booked your flight with Virgin Atlantic direct or with them through Virgin Holidays. Their websites are still showing seat reservations only available less than 180 days before flight.
I have just got off the phone from Virgin (yes they are open Good Friday) and reserved seats for 21st Oct/5th Nov.
The recorded message still says you can only book 180 days out but I hung on anyway and the nice lady at the other end confirmed you can now book 11 months out regardless of what the message says.
However she advised me that pre-booking only starts with ros 34 and higher for Economy - they wont book anything nearer the front of the plane.
What number did you ring please? I've just phoned the reservation number to be told that it's still 180 days in advance and we can't do ours yet (we are going on November 3rd).
I just called the phone number above and was told again it is definitely NOT possible to pre-book your seats outside of the 180 days
The operator said that possibly notes are being put down on the booking that people would like these seats reserved with their travel agents as this is something you can do through a travel agent eg Virgin Holidays, but the seats aren't phyisically bookable at the moment,it cannot be done on the system
I've been told this twice now so I guess I'll have to accept this as correct?
I have just got off the phone from Virgin yet again!!!
0871 222 0050 is the seat booking number.
Disregard recorded message.
The problem is that a bulletin has only just come out and all staff have not yet been fully briefed - its the same old communicatio9n problem which exists in all large organisations.
I was told the same as Kazzie and the lovely lady went to check with her Supervisor after I pointed out that my seats for 21st Oct had been reserved this morning.
So try again Kazzie and if the poor agent at the other end hasn't had the bulletin yet ask her to go and check with her supervisor.
I wonder if Virgin could perhaps use my skills as a communications expert to sort them out?
Thank you for the information.
I just booked our 4 th November seats.( from Manchester) Given row 18 AB I cannot find these seats on the seat map, any idea's anyone????? (PE seats)
I had the same problem finding my seats on the normal flight plans. It seems that they are using a different plane now for their manchester route. If you go to virgin-atlantic.com then go to "your flight" you can enter your details and get through to a page where you can see a new seat plan of the plane.
Does anyone have the name of the Virgin operator they spoke to??
I have just been told for the third time today I they can't open up the seat map to book my October 14th seats
I asked the operator to ask the supervisor this time.He was told this is coming in to force on Monday
Because my seat request involves a special needs child and I had the exact date to call up and was going to call next week at 7am ,this has thrown me out that other people are booking abnd I can't
