Hi,

I am really excited as we have treated ourselves and booked to fly PE both ways on our trip in January. We have never done this before.
I know that the plane will be an Air Atlanta 747 200, but I can't find any information on the web showing a seating plan.

We have been given seats H & K on row 19. I asked if this would be upstairs but the lady at Virgin said not. Can anyone confirm this?

I also wondered (since we have already spent a small fortune) whether to book the executive lounge at Manchester - brochure says that it is £22.50 each - has anyone done this? Is it worth it (I know this is a very subjective question).

Any info gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Hi

The last time we went from Manchester, upstairs was the Club Orlando section - only about twenty seats - the 747-200 has got a smaller "bubble" than the 747-400's.

Trying to remember what the Manchester lounge was like. We like the lounges as its nice to start your hols with a bit piece and quiet and a nice drink or two although I am sure you will get as many negative replies for lounges as positives.

Club Orlando is another £150ish over the premium price but well worth it. To give you an idea of space, we had 3 or 4 window lengths. Had to actually get out of seat to reach the magazines :D

If you book the lounge with ABC hol extras it is £16.50 each, with a choice of 2 lounges, the Escape lounge which has a duty free shop and internet facilites or the Servisair lounge.

I did this last year and as we were delayed we got our moneys worth of drinks and snacks, it certainly adds up if you have to pay for coffee etc, throughly enjoyed it- comfy seats, newspapers and no screaming kids, they don't allow under 8's

Have booked it again for Jan , enjoy PE and your hols

We flew Club Orlando just a couple of weeks ago and in the seat in front of me was a child no more than 6 months old on the return flight which surprised me as I too was under the impression that there was an age restriction. However the baby was quiet virtually all the way through.
As for Premium Economy seats.
When you turn left instead of right the first 12 rows @ 2x2x2 are Premium Economy, then you come to a spiral staircase and there is another 5 rows after the staircase which belong to Club Orlando @ 2x2 (we were here on the outward journey. Upstairs there is another 4 rows @2x2 of Club Orlando where we were for the return.
We have decided that even though we were upgraded to Club Orlando from PE because of a mistake made by Virgin, we will bypass PE next time and pay the extra for Club Orlando as there is no better way to travel.

On the outward journey, my 14 year old son woke up a pompous old American lady at 1.00pm in the afternoon because he was laughing during one of the films. She tried to say that he should not be allowed into upper class if he couldn't behave himself. I took umbridge to this as he was doing nobody any harm and nobody informed us that we had to be quiet during the flight (common sense says you should be on the way home when people are trying to sleep at a reasonable hour).
The cabin crew saw that there was a potential situation arising and asked both parties what was going on. When they heard the story the American lady was told that she was welcome to sit in another part of the plane and that laughter is whole heartedly encouraged on Virgin flights. Within an hour the American lady had realised she was probably O.T.T and was all smiles with my son. Good on her and good on the Virgin cabin crew.
No better way to travel (unless you want a snooze in the afternoon)
