sorry about this i know this is another virgin or travelcity direct question but here goes.We are looking to go 17th may 2008, we have priced up with virgin and we have to say their prices seem to have shot up,looked at tcd, alot cheaper but my dh would like to know what their planes are like are they old planes? do they have seatback tvs etcs, tcd premium upperdeck what is this like?, because we priced this up and it still comes out cheaper than virgin economy. any comments good or bad gratefully received. we really what to book up this weekend but we need some help to make a decision who to go with.:thanks:

We've been with Virgin 4 times to Orlando. This year we are trying TCD as they were aprox £800 cheaper. TCD use Exel airline-you can check out on their website type of plane. They dont have seat back TV but do show films (3 I think) on overhead monitors-free headsets. We thought for a saving of £800 we'd give it a go (mind you it's costing me another £60.00 as I promised the kids a new PSP game each for the flight!).

We have been with Virgin a couple of times and they have been the best on price and we had no problems with them at all.

This time however we are going with Thomas Cook Signature, our reason for this is that we got a really good discount from the local Thomas Cook Travel agent. Also we really wanted to try the Dining Plan, Virgin wanted £26 per person per night, Thomas Cook Signature was only £21 per person per night. So it would have been an extra £140 with Virgin.

Also with Thomas cook signature you can fly with Virgin Atlantic so that is what we are doing.

Happy Planning

Travelled many times with TCD, they are ok, they get you there and back and most times we have been on time. OK they dont have seat back TV's, but they have other screens to watch, free booze and the food is ok. Just look at them as a means to getting to florida which is a very small part of your trip.

I've booked a Virgin 'Fly-Drive' for 19th May 2008 :thumbsup2

When I priced up TCD there seemed little difference in price, once you considered car ins etc.
As it'll be just DD (then 9) and I travelling I opted for Virgin so that we can take of advantage of the 'free' drinks and seat back tvs ;)

Hi !

this is our 4th trip to WDW ( can't get enough of it - mad I know!)- first two trips were with VA - their wonderful Club Orlando service out of Manchester and then Gatwick - both flights and holidays were great.

The third trip we ended up booking with TCD because we found that we saved a great deal over VA - VA had stopped the Club Orlando service, but their premium economy service ( not as good as Club Orlando) was a lot more expensive than previous years and didn't compare with the Sunshine first option with TCD.

The flight was great ( It was an Excel flight) and thats why we are going with them again this year .

Hope you have a great holiday in 08, oh thats given me an idea - I need to get the brochures out again ....oops my DH just fell over when he saw what I had typed .....only kidding LOL:banana:

we always travel with TCd sunshine first as its well worth the extra money to us.

we were told by a friend years ago that Tcd is jut like a taxi service and use it like one...just a cheaper way to get to disney so more dollars to spend when u get there!!!

We changed from Virgin Economy to TCD Sunshine First three years ago (both Fly drives) and won't be going back to Virgin! Sunshine First costs us less than Virgin PE and not much more than Virgin Economy. You can't beat the space you get in SF, the food is good and the fact that you get off the plane first is a bonus. Can't comment on the hand held entertainment, we've bought our own MP4 player which is loaded up with the music and films (and Disney Planning DVD popcorn:: ) we want to watch/listen to.

We have flown, virgin, monarch and this time we are flying Thomas Cook Airlines, it was cheaper than TCD for the five of us in economy and they have seat back TV's and a lot cheaper than virgin and have been told they are on par to Virgin so I would price Thomas Cook up as well, and they did try and price match for me. They gave me a great price for August which was cheaper than TCD and still is at the moment.
