hello, i was wondering if anybody could help me with 2 questions.

firstly, our holiday in may to orlando begins with a virgin flight from gatwick to las vegas for a couple of nights stay. i was wondering if anybody has flown on this flight and knows what the inflight entertainment will be or if it is any good. also maybe if you have flown the orlando to gatwick flight as we will be on that flight too, but its a night flight so im not so fussed about that one.

secondly, ive heard about 24 hour online check in!? there is 3 in our party and we are somewhat desperate for a window seat. we have reserved online seats with a window but hear that it is only a request. so i was also wondering, if you book your seats on the online check in can you see which ones you pick? and is this a good idea?

thanks for any help you can give me.:worship: :thumbsup2

Hiya,
they will try to honour on line pre bookings , obviously they may need to change them sometimes, but don't generally..

We were unable to pre book as Travel agent didn't give us the code to do so until too late, so have to wait till twighlight check in at Gatwick the night before. (can't online as we will be travelling.) I'm hoping we will get seats reasonably together, but hey ho, its a holiday we'll be seeing a lot of each other for 10 whole days.....

The Gatwick in flight entertainment is the usual -seat back screen with movies which all start at the same time , so don't choose a short one if you want continuous entertainment. don't know about the LA one sorry

With online check in, you will be able to see the seats you have been assigned. I don't think you can change them at this stage.

The Las Vegas planes are from the same pool as the Orlando ones so Nova or Odyssey entertainment systems, which have about 8 film channels and a few other tv type channels, there is also the music and possibly skymap.

Can you tell from the Virgin flight numbers which systems are on the aircraft?
Sorry if this is a stupid question that u may already have answered.

hi, i was looking for the same thing, i found out that your not guaranteed to get 1 system or the other, but, it will be one of 2 systems. there are 5 aircraft with the super nova system and 3 with the odyssey, the planes must change around to different routes. heres the page with the inflight entertainment systems...i couldnt work out how to link it...

You need the lucky booking ref or e-ticket number depending on how you booked your flights.

You can then amend you booking here
https://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/manageyourflights/updatebooking/index.jsp

Do this in advance to make sure you can get into your booking as often the booking ref is not correct from a travel agent or Virgin holidays.

Secondly, in advance, I'd enter the Advance Passenger Information (API) when I could edit my booking.
Details on this are here
http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/passengerinformation/index/index.jsp

Once you have done this the actual online check in is simple, just follow the on screen menu.

No baggage details are required.

OLCI can be started here and there is also some further info

You need to know what plane you are on not the flight number. Although Virgin tend to use the same group of planes for certain routes. Like the Gatwick/Manchester to Orlando all tend to be one of a group of planes all with the same entertainment system (Nova).

Take a look at the V-Flyer website links in the post above and and you can check the planes most often used on your flight number :)
