Can anyone tell me if members can transfer miles to other members?

Also, how many miles would be needed to upgrade to PE on a flight to Orlando?

Thanks in advance :)

No, but you can get a companion flight. As for upgrades all the current values are on the VA website.

Claire ;)

no - you cant transfer miles to another member. You can use the miles for a companion ticket though.

Upgrade miles from economy to PE - I think its about 20,000 - maybe 30 - I'm not sure.

all your answers though are on the VA website under flyers club.

the transfer is a total pain as dh and I have well over 120,000 miles on our cards but our kids age 4 and 2 cant get a card! and yet we pay 90% for their seats so why doesnt Virgin introduce a card that gives kids the % airmlies for the price they paid.

I had searched the VA website the other day for the upgrade info and couldnt find it at all :headache:

Now, I just found it no bother....:rolleyes1

Thanks for the help :)

Your children can have FC cards, but you have to be a gold card member to get them.

You can also buy miles these days to make up any deficiencies in the amount you need to a certain amount

Yeah I seen that on the website Obi. I worked out you can upgrade to PE for £300 if you buy the miles (max you can buy though is 19k, need 20k for the upgrade). Think it costs £600 to do it in cash....

The reason I asked about the transfers is I think this trip will be a one off for my dad and brother, so I was gonna sign them up for the flying club as well, then get them to give me their miles

Oh well, worth a try :teeth:

You can recommend someone and as soon as they travel you get points. You can also get another person, also a FC members, to buy points for you as a gift and that is qutie a high amount more than buying for yourself.

Claire ;)

Yes, make sure you recommend your Dad and brother and you will get 10,000 miles (for each of them) when they take their first flight.

Whilst you can't transfer miles, you can use other members' miles. For example, our daughters each have around 30,000 miles (which they got from flights we paid for) and we've just used some of them for our flights in January. I'm booked on the revenue flight and we used their miles to book a Companion flight for dh. It's also worth noting that you can book each leg of a return flight separately. We needed 30,000 miles for dh's Companion PE flight, but neither of them had quite enough, so we used 15,000 from each of their accounts to get the return trip.

Oooh yeah, forgot about that. Good shout on both points Claire. I phoned VA earlier to ask them to include this holiday on to my FC membership (I only joined FC the other day). Think ill send an invite to dad and brother, then phone VA after they have signed up to get their holiday included on it as well :thumbsup2

Ahh didnt know this. This is just as good as being able to transfer them :goodvibes

Thanks Debbie :thumbsup2

Its only certain flight classes isn't it Debbie?

3.2.4 For every person you refer who joins Flying Club, you will earn miles on the basis of the cabin in which they complete their first round trip with Virgin Atlantic: the following miles will be awarded: Economy (Y,B,L,M,V,Q,X,N)2,000 miles, Premium Economy (W,S,K) 5,000 miles and Upper Class (J,D,Z) 10,000 miles. Miles will only be credited once travel has been completed, not at time of booking. Miles cannot be earned on any free or reduced rate tickets including discounted, without limitation, reward travel, free upgrade and travel agent or industry discounts, Miles Plus Money, infant and complimentary tickets. Travel on codeshare flights and partner airlines will not qualify for miles.

Oops - so it is. I spotted the headline on the home page a couple of days ago. I didn't notice that it says "up to" 10,000. I just assumed it was an increase in the benefit since I last introduced someone (it used to be 7,500 across the board, didn't it?).

Sorry to hijack your thread but, i am getting 13008 miles for our next flight and i am the only one thats nemed as a flying club member. My question is, we are 3 adults flying PE return from LGW-MCO do you know if those miles earned include the other 2 adults or is that just for me?:confused3 Or would everyone have to enrol in the flying club to qualify? Sorry if this is a silly question.

Yes thats just your points, make sure everyone travelling enrols in FC before they fly as they cannot claim back miles from travelling before being a member.

Yes, everyone will need to enrole and earn their own FC points.
Those miles should be yours only. You get extra miles for flying in PE. We get around 10,000 miles per seguement as we fly UC and are Gold Card holders in FC
Yes, just checked and you get 13,008 for flying in PE with a red card

yes, I am sure it was a flat rate. Seems another change sneaked in :-)

One more question :)

Can the miles be used to book holidays with VH, or only flights with VA? I dont remember seeing a bit on the VH website where you could apply air miles when I was booking this holiday..

Can only be used when booking direct with VA to get best value. Although can convert points to vocuhers for money off VH holidays but they aren't very good price wise.

Claire ;)

Thanks Claire :thumbsup2

Im planning on renting a villa next year (with any luck I can get dad to join us again) so we would probably just have went for the flights with VA in any case.

Get yourselves a Virgin Atlantic CC. 2 airmiles for every pound spent and if you spend over £7,500 in one year you get a companion flight and £5,000 and get a return upgrade.
