Flying with Virgin in October. I know we can't take liquids through security but think we can buy in duty free area and take on board. Really want to know about meals, duty frees and whether you have been on time from Gatwick recently.

Thanks.

Hi

We flew with Virgin at Easter. We had a four hour delay going out - apparently it had been like that all week !! I would have hoped they would have sorted that out by now !

You can buy liquids on the other side of security but we were told you can only take sealed bottles of water on board. (We were not checked). Duty free was being sealed and sent to the gate for you to collect as you went on board. This was the same on the way back.

Meals were ok. We got a main meal and a snack meal. On the way out we got ice cream as well.

Hope that helps.

Mousetours, that really helps thanks. I have a DD aged 5 who drinks water constantly and although there are free drinks I'm concerned there won't be regular enough service for her to keep hydrated during the flight. did you have any problem taking food on board? I assume you can still do that but destroy anything you don't eat when you land. thanks again.

You don't have to keep bothering the flight attendants for drinks as they have water and juice set out at their stations for you just to go and help yourselves. Keeps you active through the flight if you drink alot :)

Thanks for that looks like I may spend half the flight fetching drinks and half taking DD to the toilet! Lets hope their isn't too much turbulence..........I remember the days when a flight meant a sleep, a book and a glass of wine!:rotfl:

Been there.......done that.......got the the t-shirt

At least my two are up a bit (11 & 7) - can get their own drinks and find the toilet themselves! Mind you still no sleep yet - somehow I manage to act as the cushion :confused3

Hi they don't let you know this when you are in the air though.I only knew after wayneg posted a thread and mentioned it.Good advice bringing it up:thumbsup2

We came home on Wednesday and didn't have any delays either end. In fact it went out 5 mins early. The meals were ok and drinks plentiful. My kids (13,11,7) went and helped themselves to drinks as and when they wanted them.
