Virgin flight VS027

Please let's not flame Andrew for a perfectly reasonable question. He simply asked if anyone knew of the cause for the delays. He didn't make a criticism, or complain, he just asked.

Sorry if you thought that..... my comment was not to Andrew directly. I just meant it in general. The news today makes you realise that delays, inconveniences etc are not important when you think of what could have happened if these "animals" succeeded! Lets just hope they caught them all and one didn't slip through.

I've got news for you, I am self employed, so I am solely responsible for my dealings with clients and in 3 1/2 years I have never been late.

The reason that airlines think it's fine to be late is because it's just accepted by people. Will I be angry with the flight staff, or the check in desk? No, that would be pointless. But I would be annoyed and the airline would get a letter if I felt it was warranted.

You chill if you want, I'll continue to expect decent customer service.

Mel

You are talking about a delay of one hour, not a whole day!
Its not going to make one iota difference to your holiday and if it does, then you REALLY need to have more holidays and calm down! :teeth: :teeth:

Vs027 LGW-MCO today
departure time 11:15
Estimated depature now 13:45

VS015 dep time 12:30
Now estimated to depart 15:00

VS75 Man-MCO
Dep time 10:25
Now estimated to leave 11:30

VS73
Dep time 13:30
Now estimated dep 14:30

So Man not too bad
Though all departures may affect flights tomorrow, depends on the groundstaff at MCO and the heightened security there as well.

I have had several delays flying with Virgin but ive never actually arrived late! Virgin have plenty of slack in their flight time and therefore most flights do not arrive later (or certainly much later) than the expected arrival time. They may take off late but can often make up the time in the air!

As others have said Airports are big places and a LOT of planes travel through them each day. You cannot expect each plane to take off on time - lets not forget that a plane has to wait atleast 30 mins after the time they should have pulled away from the gate for late passengers! and if there has been a problem on board quite rightly they need to check all is ok before the next flight!

If they miss there take off slot they have to wait for the next available one - its not like once the plane is ready it can take off! This will the obviously have knock on affects for lots of planes!

If its a long delay then fair enough, if its one hour i think its understandable.

I think todays news really puts your minor concern of a small delay into perspective don't you?

Well government didnt inform us until today so I posted on the information I knew at the time, of course the actions today, and if the flights earlier this week were delayed due to this, then there is excllent reason to do so.

I will wait with my kids for six hours at the weekend happly NOW knowing its security for all.

Well yes but pardon me the government didnt inform me so I posted on the information I knew at the time, of course the actions today, and if the flights earlier this week were delayed due to this, then there is excllent reason to do so.

However, you, knowing I didnt or couldnt know about this and wishing basically to say 'I told you so' flame is RUDE. I hope everyone has a safe trip, and I will wait with my kids for six hours at the weekend happly NOW knowing its security for all.

It had nothing to do with "I told you so" it had more to do with the fact that people seem to think that airlines MUST take off as detailed in a schedule set six months before hand and "how dare they lose me one hour of a holiday" attitude,
regardless of what is going on up to the point of departure.

Firstly the latest news on todays flight the actual reason for this thread:-

Flight number VS 027
Departure date 10 Aug 2006
Route London (LGW) to Orlando (MCO)
Scheduled departure time 10 Aug 11:15
Actual departure time 10 Aug 17:45
Scheduled arrival time 10 Aug 15:25
Estimated arrival time 10 Aug 21:26

So they are on there way,

Rewind 24 hours this discussion thread by SEVANS2208 was based on a question why Virgins plane take offs have been dealyed this week, the thread was on to something, it was noticed this was strange, we didnt know the reasons, was it Virgin? was it their service, with events from 2am today we might have an answer, but remember yesterdays flight left on time? so was it this or something else.

Considering the strain the airlines must be under today lets say, they are working very very hard. I will be stuck at Gatwick this weekend! I now know the reasons to protect us!

If someone had posted under my entry last night, 'now we all know why' I would agree, I am am not flaming or having a fight, but the two following posters quoted ME . How could I know this was going to happen?

Thank you for your clarification, and I agree with the rest.

Thank you I always thought these were friendly boards!

I have only been visiting the UK part of the boards for about 3 weeks now, and was pleased that it seemed they appeared to be inhabited by friendlier and less rude people than some of the other forums are at times... I have now for only the second time ever added a name to my ignore list. I just don't seem to have the time for crap like that at this stage in my life.

Everyone have a Disney day! :)

4pm? I wonder if they'll be back to normal by the 24th !! By the way, i'm not complaining before anyone pounces on me !

The 12:30 flight is scheduled at 18:45!

Yes I would of thought so, as it should hopefully only take a couple of days to get the displaced planes back to where they should be.

Claire ;)

Now 17:30 the same as Thursday for the 11:15am looks like they couldnt make the time up,

Flight number VS 027
Departure date 11 Aug 2006
Route London (LGW) to Orlando (MCO)
Scheduled departure time 11 Aug 11:15
Actual departure time 11 Aug 17:30
Scheduled arrival time 11 Aug 15:25
Estimated arrival time 11 Aug 21:28

Now that means either they need an extra plane, or we will have a delay until at least 4pm Saturday, as the Plane cannot get back that quickly.

Saturdays flight is not showing with any detail as yet, and also you cannot check in online!

CLAIRE L have a great flight and a safe one, god speed!

I though you were on mine, anyway ( might get told off for this) I think I will still be a Gatwick then, joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(As long as we are safe its ok)

flying on sunday.......... hopefully no delay but will be happy to get there safely!
hope your flight tomorrow is ok

Update from GATWICK todays Orlando flights have very bad delays VS0027 is leaving at 18:45 pm tonight and the other flight 75 mins later.

The traffic to the airport was fine some small delay at the car drop down point, but the check in was fast, and security checks whilst very strong were very well organsed, I was over through Passport control in about 30 mins from arrival.

All other Virgin flights seem ok, but the orlando ones are the most effected.
