Being quite sad I've been keeping an eye on this flight for the last few days as it is the one we fly on on Saturday.

It's been delayed every day for the last few days - anything up to about 2.5 hours :(

Just wondered if anyone knew why?

Lets hope it's on time on Saturday :thumbsup2

Don't know why there was a take-off delay - but did you check the arrival time at MCO? It's amazing how much of a delay can be made up en-route :)

On the 6th VS027 (1115) was an hour and a half late departing, arriving at MCO just over an hour behind schedule. On the same day flight VS015 (1230) didn't leave until almost 1550, arriving just after 8pm EST. Usually such delays would be talked about on the V-Flyer forums but, as of last night, there was still no mention. Very odd. :confused3

How annoyed would you be???

We are meeting my family at the resort the day we arrive and they can't check in without us. This would not be too fun for them...

And of course you are never late? always on time to EVERYTHING you do?

Its an airline, the fact that its only a hour late is pretty good for the distance and time it has travelled.

Your on holiday. Chill. If they arrive before you, tell them to go and get something toeat/drink and chill. They are on holday as well.

We took off an hour late last year with Virgin but we ended up landing 5 minutes early so I was happy!! I wouldn't worry, Virgin seem to be pretty good at arriving on time. Hope you have a great trip!

Two words: It Happens. At least I think that's how you spell it ;)

I thought that, too - we always fly Virgin - but I've been looking into it today after seeing this thread and they've actually got the worst record of all the UK scheduled airlines. The stats are appalling.

I will be on that one on Saturday as well and I would be very annoyed for that type of delay, Virgin have lots of planes so if they have 'technical difficulties' they should get another one in, if two were delayed might be something at Gatwick, baggage delays etc, to effect two.

I know last year there was an annoucement by the pilot saying Virgin was trying to be the most punctual airline we left 15 mins early!!! Hope Saturday is on time!

Todays a bit better!

Flight number VS 027
Departure date 08 Aug 2006
Route London (LGW) to Orlando (MCO)
Scheduled departure time 08 Aug 11:15
Actual departure time 08 Aug 11:47
Scheduled arrival time 08 Aug 15:25
Actual arrival time 08 Aug 15:35

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

With most virgin delays they normally make up the lost time and you arrive on time so don't worry!

Don't get me wrong if my plane was delayed I would freak! :scared1: But its not worth worrying about too much.

Hi

We did the same thing. We watched our flight two days prior to departure we already knew there was a hour and half delay. The check in desk were surprised when we said that we knew there was a delay. We did not mind too much we have been delayed for longer. They seem to catch up with themselves quickly I think our flight on the way back was 7 1/2 hours.

Try not to worry just relax and by Saturday they could be on time. At least you know they are delayed so it wont be a shock and dissapointment when you arrive at the airport.

Does anyone know the reasons for the long delays anyone been told? and does the 12.30pm flight go before the 11.15am ever?

Think they know we are watching them! Look at this one!

Flight number VS 027
Departure date 09 Aug 2006
Route London (LGW) to Orlando (MCO)
Scheduled departure time 09 Aug 11:15
Actual departure time 09 Aug 11:17
Scheduled arrival time 09 Aug 15:25
Estimated arrival time 09 Aug 15:17

Do that on Saturday please!

We've flown many times with Virgin and, to be honest, I can count on one finger ;) the amount of times we've taken off on time. However, by far the norm we always seem to make up the hour or so, so if the delay is only an hour(ish) it usually is made up.

Some delays are caused by "technical problems" - ie the ground crew engineers checking things out - I personally feel happier they are doing this than letting the plane turn around with a potential problem.

Sometimes there is a medical emergency which means the plane has to either turn around or stop somewhere enroute. Frustrating, but imagine it was someone in your family (or even yourself) who had a potentially life-threatening problem. This has a knock-on effect for the other leg of the flgiht's return journey. We've had this a couple of times with diabetics who have not taken their medication/low on sugar (now you would think they would ensure they did this given a 9 hour flight :confused3 ).

I too am sad and check the arrival/departure times on teletext - my poor DH thinks I'm really weird  :thumbsup2

It's when they use the old "the plane was late in" excuse - and it wasn't - that gets me. We had it going out to San Fransisco this Easter. We stayed up at a Heathrow hotel the night before and, like where we've stayed at Gatwick, they have the 'Saddo Channel' devoted to arrivals and departures. I checked these and knew that the incoming flight had actually arrived half an hour early - so why use the excuse that it was late coming in for the delay :badpc: . Luckily for VA ;) , they made up the time en route.

Like others have said, a small delay like that is nothing - think of the times you've queued for a ride for this amount of time. However, I too find it incredibly frustrating - it makes me stressy  too.

Just a bit of info, i work under the flight path at heathrow and the big, 4 engined virgin airbus (sorry my plane technical skills arent very good!!!) its a big as a jumbo but doent have an upstairs takes off every day at 12.45pm, i know this cos this is the time i go to lunch and trust me you hear this one coming!! I think it might go to new york... well everyday this week that plane has been nearly an hour late taking off, its been going up just as i am pulling back into the car park at work... its a little wierd but i wonder if they are altering there timetables for some reason or another??? i assume the planes follow each other to the USA, so maybe when on is late the all follow suit???

I've got news for you, I am self employed, so I am solely responsible for my dealings with clients and in 3 1/2 years I have never been late.

The reason that airlines think it's fine to be late is because it's just accepted by people. Will I be angry with the flight staff, or the check in desk? No, that would be pointless. But I would be annoyed and the airline would get a letter if I felt it was warranted.

You chill if you want, I'll continue to expect decent customer service.

28 YEARS never late for work once!
My customers complain about 2 mins wait?
Airplanes and airports are more difficult and yes please do not fly if there is a fault.
But we pay a lot of money and it is our annual holiday.

Anyway, hopfully Saturday would be as good as todays!

I think todays news really puts your minor concern of a small delay into perspective don't you?
