Hi there,

Have just discovered that the Virgin flight from Manchester is actually operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic - How upset am I!

Has anyone got any experience of this? We so wanted to fly Virgin so that we would get the seat back teles etc. and now i dont know what to expect.

This is not the build up to the holiday I wanted.

I would be very grateful for any advice.

I know i shouldnt moan after all we will be going to Florida (only 38 days to go :bounce: )

Thanks for your help.

We flew with Virgin from Manchester last Christmas. They usesd the old Air Atlanta plane. It has the Virgin colours and the seat back teles, ours even had the nintendos, but the plane was a long way past it's best.

Whoa! and to think i was worried about the extras - now im worrying if the plane will get off the ground. lol

I can feel an email brewing to Mr Branson - ha ha:hyper:

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
We have flown before (2x's) and go in a few days, have flown with both Virgin Planes from Manchester, they both are a tad older than the other models, compared to what Heathrow etc have but they was all good flights, both planes are called "Island lady" & "Honey Pie" these are the only 2 planes operated from Manchester, they have seat back t.v's,nintendo's etc, and are in the virgin colours etc...

I am sure you will be fine, cause we are jetting off before you lol, So I hope they are ok!! :hyper:

Thanks Beth,

In the big scheme of things the plane (so long as it is safe) is a small worry. It is just when you save for so long you have such high expectations. Im sure it will be fine - and 8/9 hours out of two weeks is peanuts!!:jester:

I hope you have a lovely time on your hols and look forward to your tales when you return.

Put it this way, if you hadn't seen the air Atlanta bit, you wouldn't know it wasn't a Virgin flight. It's all in Virgin livery etc.

And I don't believe they've lost a passenger yet, so you probably don't need to worry about the aircraft making it off the ground ;)

It is a Virgin flight that's why it has a VS flight number crewed by VA pilots with VA cabin crew and check in staff etc. Air Atlanta own and service the plane and lease it back to VA for their flights because the two planes are 747-200's and the rest of VA's fleet are 747-400's ( at LGW & LHR ) so Air Atlanta has them on their fleet as they have a few 747-200's so are set up to service them more efficiently.

We have flown several times on these planes and they are fine.

I agree, but honestly the whole Air Atlanta you would never know like others have said, it is completely virgin colours infact here is a website where you can see the planes etc here's the link: Airliners.Net Just search up Virgin Atlantic, from Manchester :)

You will have a great flight I am sure, I am a nervous flyer, and have not had one bad grumble on our previous flights, The planes are safe along with any other boeing 747 :)

Wouldnt worry and have a wonderful holiday.

Better that, than the old planes they used to use from Gatwick. I peeled back a sticker that was falling off by the toilets and found a metal plate saying the aircraft was on charter from KOREAN AIR. Not something I was too thrilled about. I think that aircraft (California Girl) isnt used by Virgin anymore...thank goodness.

Just a couple of hitches on our flight. They couldn't get the engine to stop when we arrived at Manchester,a problem which had delayed us at Orlando, and the seat in front of my wife wouldn't go upright.Oh and my control for the nintendo wouldn't go upwards, and my daughter's screen kept falling on the floor if the seat moved. Apart from that it was a normal flight and decent cabin crew.

We've flown 4 times with Virgin from Manchester and only crashed twice :scared1:

I promise, you wont know the difference between Virgins Manchester service and that of Gatwick. If you need info you call Virgin or if you need to speak to somebody when you get home you call Virgin. It's the exact same service. So don't worry and enjoy your holiday.: :charac2:

Thanks all - advice as ever has been brilliant.

Can now look forward to a lovely holiday (until i find something else to worry about - next step packing list :smooth: )
