Just had email notification that they have cancelled our flight home and put us on the earlier VS28 :sad2: We have also lost our row 79 seats and there are no more avaliable for pre-booking - currently only DH has a seat. We will do online check in and DTD so hopefully we can get bubble seats together as I don't fancy 8 hrs on my own with DD!

This is a Friday in May so loads must be light - might we both checking for anyone travelling in May

I've been changed too - wouldn't mind but this is the second time lol originally changed from the VS27 to the VS15 on the 7th May (as it was looking like the VS27 had been cancelled), now they've put me back on the VS27 and cancelled the VS15. I'm on the VS28 coming home on the 14th May but that hasn't changed.

Put it this way guys, at least you got your flights :cool1:

I have been holding off for October flights as we are booked in at ssr for 21 nights from the 9th October. I have refused to spend what has gone from £5800 to £8700 on 6 PE seats, we paid less last year on PE than what virgins cost is now for economy.

Having checked today, it is showing "no flights" for my dates, oh gee :sad2:

I dont know about you but I feel Virgin are acting really strange recently  Dont quite no what to think.

On a positive note, we have often booked last minute holidays with Virgin and I was once told that no seats downstairs are ever pre-booked. I know its not in the bubble, but from experience I think you'll have a good chance of seating together downstairs. :thumbsup2

The same happened to my sister's friend's family. The only problem is they go just as the Easter holidays start and it wasn't until they tried to book the seats they realised there was a problem, no e-mail notification sent!
Virgin have had to now admit it was their fault (they denied all knowledge originally) and now they are having to get them to Gatwick earlier than scheduled and back home from Manchester. They are also footing the bill for the extra nights at the Villa too.

our homeward bound flight has also been cancelled on 12th March and we have been rebooked onto an earlier one.....

If they are cancelling these flights because they are too under-occupied to justify keeping them on, why don't they release some cheap SALE seats?! They would probably be overwhelmed by the response in the current state of affairs. :rotfl2::lmao:

Well having a chat with DH over dinner tonight and we are seriously considering BA as all the advantages that Virgin used to have for us have pretty much gone.
No extra luggage allowance - Virgin was 32kg compared to BA 23kg which allowed us to take less cases but heavier if needs be - not an issue as Virgin are 23kgs now too
DTD Check In - now we are staying at BLT we can leave luggage with Bell services and collect it when we get the car on the way to the airport. This was one of the last things keeping us with Virgin

BA has on demand entertainment and laptop power in WT+ unlike Virgin.

We like the bubble but if we get the right price we will give BA a try!

The main thing that keeps us with Virgin is the MAN-MCO nonstop route!

In all honesty I don't think as an airline they're anything special! Tired old planes with tired old cabin crew is how I summed them up after our last trip :lmao:

:goodvibes

Hi
Its our first time flying with Virgin this June. Is the Entertainment not
on demand. Eg: Pick a film to start anytime you want, rewind, pause etc?
I feel a bit thick asking this but I just assumed it would be.
We had our 1st June 10 flight cancelled with Thomas Cook and have moved to Virgin so I do hope we wont get anymore changes!!!
Thanks Mandy

Last time we flew Virgin (Oct 08) it was all on a 'loop'.
I don't think it's been updated since (at least not the MAN-MCO route) :(

:goodvibes

Last flew with Virgin Man-Mco just 3 months ago and sadly it is still on a loop.

Sadly I agree completely with the previous poster, we have given Virgin our business purely on the MAN direct routes but due to the ridiculous hike in prices this year I am seriously considering giving BA a shot.

Overall opinion appears to be that BA have the edge over Virgin at the minute.

If I hadn't booked my VA flights last year I would be of a similar mind to you all. I do agree that the entertainment with Virgin is old fashioned - plenty hassles both ways with the entertainment and on the return they had to keep shutting it off and trying to restart it. Nice!

Also on the outbound, kids in the PE cabin running up and down the aisles. I know they need to move about but there could at least be SOME control over it. I had to shush my DD(7) when she said maybe a little too loudly "You would never let me do that!"

I am just chuffed that I got direct Glasgow to MCO for the first time EVER whcih is great flying alone with a young child. Ironically, she will be 8 next trip so technically that isn't an issue anymore. Next time, I will try something new perhaps! ;)

I too agree, that Virgin are ok, but really not the special, fantastic airline that they are hyped up to be.
I also have to say that I don't understand the total obsession of most people on here with seat numbers. We are happy just to sit together. Some people are downright fixated on the "best" place to sit!

Well, if you book woith BA make sure you have strike insurance and with a loss running towards £1 BILLION, pay on your credit card.

Virgin are doing what they have to, to survive, BA seem to think that the Government will bail them out

Scaremongering like that does not help the situation either

Scaremongering like that does not help the situation either

What exactly is scaremongering?
1) BA cabin crew are again voting on strike action Fact
2) BA are posting losses of £1 billion, read the FT Fact

not scaremongering but actual positions.

Hi
Thats the route we are taking :(
Im quite surprise really. I think from reading so many 'virgin ' posts on here I just got the impression they were far superior to the charter airlines.
We flew the year before last with first choice and they had remote controls
in the arm rests!
I suppose I just find the 'on demand' thing easier for toilet trips etc with my young children.
But hey ho its getting to the mouse which is the main thing :)
Thanks for the reply
Mandy

There is no chance i will be flying with BA any time soon. My mum hates flying and wont go on a plane that only has 2 engines :lmao:

Luckily for Virgin i dont know another London-Orlando direct route that has a plane with 4 engines :)

That being said 95% of the time i have no problems with Virgin. No the foods not fantastic, the entertainment could be better and the planes could be a little nicer but i figure that im only on there for 9 hours so i dont let it bother me. If easyjet flew to Orlando i'd probably go with them too :goodvibes

I'm beginning to regret not booking BA for my next trip!

Two weeks ago I already had my suspicions about our booking on VS28 from Orlando on Friday 7th May because dummy bookings showed only VS16 available to LGW. This thread made me take a further look.

My booking still shows as being okay and at the Virgin call centre Deepika says my booking is fine but it's the VS16 that is no longer there :confused3

Just done another dummy booking and it still shows VS16 but not our flight of VS28. Grrrrrrrr .............

I understand the need for changes, I just want to actually know. (DS, DDIL and baby are on the MAN flight returning at a similar time to ours and the plan was to all travel to the airport together in same vehicle).

It doesn't instill confidence when the website and the call centre say different things :sad2:
