Hi

Just thought I'd share...

Had a phonecall from Virgin Atlantic flying club. They're were trying to flog their credit card which offers 2 miles for every £ spent on Virgin flights/Virgin holidays so you get miles for booking anyway and then extra miles for using the card.

For all other purchases they pay 1 mile per £1 spent.

If you make a purchase in the first 90 days you get 3000 miles bonus - she didn't make clear if this had to be with Virgin or anywhere but I have a feeling it was any purchase.

Not really for me as I like to use tesco CC for the club card points but just thought somebody else might be interested. I might just get the card and use once for the 3000 miles. :confused3

Would be good for all you lucky peeps who get to go several times a year - Wayne springs to mind!

I have one, nearly 95,000 miles on mine. Buy all my food and petrol on it.

You also get companion and upgrade vouchers if you spend 7,500 and 12,500 yearly.

Is this visa or american express? I had one of their mastercard ones that they turned into amex so would love it if I could get a visa one.

Got mine a few months ago:goodvibes
Have over 15,000 miles from it now, should be due a free companion flight. Will have to look see if its any use to me.

They do another where you get double the points but costs about £115/year, I keep condsidering changing.

Only problem I found was when I wanted to pay for Virgin holiday they charged a fee to use their own card which wiped out any benefits of the extra miles. Ended up paying by debit card with no fee and losing the miles.

I've had the black (fee) card for 2 years now but I'm cancelling. I've found it far too difficult to use - had to be very flexible indeed. Believe me, I did 'throw' myself into the rules and how it works and got a good deal on 2 PE seats by being flexible but found the free companion flight impossible.

I know it suits some people, but I couldn't make it work for us.

Going back to BA Amex, where I've had great deals in the past :)

I don't think the companion seat will work for us either, I think it will work out too expensive but just getting the miles has worked for me, over 15,000 in about 7 or 8 months, used 60,000 for free flights this August so need as many as poss. Better than nothing I was getting with Barclaycard.
Don't think BA would be much use to us, been from both London airports once and it would have to be almost a free flight to tempt me back.

I think we've used the free companion seat for the last 4 trips. Fortunately we don't go at peak times but it has meant we can travel PE for very little more than economy.

Got mine a couple of months ago just for gaining flying miles really. It works for me, but I do find it difficult to use because Amercian Express is not taken everywhere (as it used to), and trying to buy disney tickets at the moment is very difficult unless you pay more (Huh?!). But Im glad Ive got it, Visa and Mastercard more flexible though but no rewards.
