Virgin Atlantic - Edinburgh to Orlando

Its coming up close for me to be able to make my seat selection, does anyone know what type of plane and seat configuration it will be?

You can use seatguru.com to find the plane and configuration for any flight - you can search by airline, date, and flight number or by destination.

The current prices for these flights next summer are absolutely bonkers 😂 I'd be cheaper getting a stretch Limousine from Scotland to Manchester and flying from there 😀 They will surely come down over time but they are totally ridiculous just now.

Really? You might want to double check or get intouch with virgin. Just about equal distance for us between Manchester and Edinburgh but chose to fly from Edinburgh as was so so much cheaper. We have extended our holiday with how much cheaper it was.

What dates are they for ?? Been checking religiously and they are extortionate and have been from day one. Manchester much cheaper, London cheaper still. I'm only looking at the direct flights from Edinburgh

We going August 2022, edinburgh flights alone for direct are roughly £800, what i found for manchester were £1300-£1500

☹ My dates for the end of June, premium economy are £3000 from Edinburgh. 😂 🤦🏻 Manchester are £1200. Im sure they will settle down. 😳

Also, can i ask what website that is ? The VA flights for August 2022 are not out yet, usually 11 months max.

Yeah, you might want to check that. Premium economy, direct from Edinburgh end of June comes in at roughly £1600pp, upper class is £2500.

We booked package through Virgin for Disney and universal combined with direct from Edinburgh, so can roughly work out prices of flights.

They seem to vary a lot with the midweek ones being a lot cheaper. I only had to pay £100 to move what was previously a flight from Edinburgh via JFK (this November 2021) to a direct one (in June 2022).

👍 Thats a good switch

I'm continuing to monitor them daily 😂🤦🏻 That said, im still not sure I would even jump in right now and book, even for June 2022. Thats a whole other issue of course

God I hope flights settle soon. Late July/ August are astronomical although some airlines aren’t able to book yet.

That may be why prices are mad. People are rushing to book next summer (because they think it will be all over then) but there is limited availability at present. Supply ... demand ... you know the score.

I've been looking at flights to the Canary Islands for October (in 6 weeks or so). That's a 4+ hour flight and economy is about £170 return, non-cattle (business) £270. (Varies with the day of week a bit.) Hardly expensive.

Booking 11 months ahead was normal for 2019. 2022 will not be normal ... and that's the only prediction I'm prepared to make with any confidence :)
I'd sit on my cash for now, at least until the US actually opens, and probably longer because once they do the airlines will be pulling planes out of storage and adding flights with confidence.

Ended up getting a right result for next August.

We've been collecting Avios like crazy since November and didn't think I would have enough to make a dent in price but I obviously did.

Fly out on the 2nd and return on the 23rd. BA Site cost was saying just over £3k economy

Using Avios it brought it down to £1,380 for the 3 of us. (34,200 Avios used) I had originally Budgeted £1,800 so Im very happy.
