HI,

Can anyone tell me if they done a domestic connection from a regional airport with Virgin? we've gone Virgin before but have driven to Manchester, but this year weve booked Gatwick with BA connections from Glasgow. Can you tell me if your luggage is checked through?

thanx

If booked as an extra through Virgin then yes it is likely that the luggage will go straight through but if a totally independent booking no it won't.

Claire ;)

Thanks Claire,

can i also just add, that even if the hol was not booked direct with virgin, and booked independently you can often get the luggage booked right through. We do the straight through from the orlando end - at downtown disney they booked our luggage straight through onto the edinburgh ba route and we never book our flights together always booking separately.

Submitted last one too soon!! :badpc:

Thanx Jacqui,

I should know this as I am a Travel Agent!! - but hey!! :rotfl2:

I know you normally do get them checked through, but when I made my res the girl at Virgin said she didn't think so!!

Did you think the downtown disney check-in was of any benefit? Also have you heard about Disneys Magical Express? they take your luggage at Orlando and take it to your hotel?

thanks for replying

the luggage being checked right through at downtown disney was definately a great option. it not only meant we got some extra hours browsing around universal instead of sitting in an airport but also meant we did not have to race of our flight and collect luggage before chasing across to find our connecting flight. esp as the time between landing from orlando and getting the edinburgh flight is kinda tight.

and as virgin are 2 pieces of luggage per person but ba isnt it also meant we didnt need to worry about extra baggage cos it was checked right through.

Hi Lesley,

I'm glad you started a new thread - you will want to ignore what I said about that on the other thread you posted on :)

In answer to your questions:

DTD check in. I recommend this very highly! You drop your cases off in the morning and then have practically the whole day, luggage free to have one last play / relax :) You can then make your way to the airport with no bags to haul, or queues to check in.

Disney's Magical Express. Again this was excellent for us. I'm not sure it would suit everyone as some people like to pick the car up when they have landed and head off. We prefer to not drive on the first evening so for us it is ideal. It is good to not have to wait for your luggage the second time round (due to MCO's unusual double baggage collection method). Some people have said they had to wait a while for the shuttle bus but it was only 15 minutes for us - which was far less time than it has taken in the past to collect the car ;) Also some people don't like to have to go round a few resorts before they get to theirs - we were lucky and were dropped off first but I don't think I would have minded had we not been first - I like to look at the other resorts anyway (even from a bus window ;) )

It was also good not to have to lug the luggage about at hotel check in and have it dropped off in our room.

At the moment it is free, though there has been talk of a charge being started later this year I don't know if that has been implemented or not.

HTH

thanks Karen, thats a great help as I dont think we could do that carry on again - collecting baggage, going 5 steps giving in back, going on monorail pick up, drop off, up elavator, down elevator, and having to have $3 for trolley, whats that all about!!!! All the time with a 4 year old are we there yet,are we there yet,are we there yet,.
are we there yet,

Thankyou - your a princess:
