I think that the "choices" will get less and less to check in at a desk, this is the way both BA and BMI are trying to persuade people to go.
The problem is not the check in but the BAA and their inability to have enough security agents to get you through in a timley manner, so 90 mins can not be enough to get through "Shoes off, coats off, laptop out, thats 110ml, thats two bags" stupidity at the BAA operated airports.

The web site opend quick for me, it is an external link of course.

We used kiosk check ins when flying with Thomsonfly to Madeira in June. We were told when we got there and had queued at the appropriate desk for some time! There was no other option.(Well until later when there were too many people for the kiosks and then people were told just to go to the desks.) Fortunately there was someone helping. Then it was to the bag drop and the longest queues! It still took going on for an hour to drop them off and the droop off agent took just as long as normal and still asked all the usual questions:confused3 . It was a right pain to be honest.

It is a pain for the passengers granmaz, but its cheap.
Lower staff costs, lower overall costs hidden under the guise of "convinience"
Way of the future unfortunatly

I use this for BA a lot for business travel and find it generally no problem but fell out with them big time for our travel to LGW in July and suspect this is the way forward. :)

Checked in online but then had to join a huge queue at EDI for around 40 mins for the "fast bag drop off", those arriving at the airport were directed to the self service check-in only to join the same queue.
The problem was the lack of desks for the bag drop off.

Gatwick wasn't as bad as the # of desks was OK but I can see this being a step backwards as Obi suggests as it becomes more common and the number of bag drop off desk reduces.

Flipping good job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After my major incident last Wednesday, I'll definately be checking this out !!!!!!!!!

For more into check my last thread, entitled something like "Off Tomorrow"

PS - thought I was quite good with IT, but it might just be a over 40 issue now :rotfl2:
