Virgin - Arm in plaster

We fly on Friday (27/6) and my eldest nephew decided it would be a good idea to fall awkwardly from a bouncing ball on Sunday. Cue one buckle-fractured wrist !!

He now has a removable plaster (a normal one split with velcro straps) and the consultant at the hospital says he's OK to fly !!!!

Has anyone any experience of this with Virgin ? Are they likely to stop him flying ?

I'm trying to get my SIL to get a letter from the doc but she's says she'll just take the plaster off and put in her hand luggage.

Help !!!!

Hi

My Dad recently broke his arm on holiday and waited the 2 weeks until he got home before getting it looked at.

He then had a pot put on but he explained he was going to the States on a tour so they put a pot on like your nephews which are acceptable for flying.

He had no problems with any of the airlines he used - although he didn't fly with Virgin.

He did however have to ring his insurance and state he was flying with a broken arm so that he was covered. You will need to do this otherwise anything that occurs due to his exisiting condition will not be covered and you don't want any USA hospital bills!

Thanks for the advice. Fortunately, SIL had already called the ins co. and they've confirmed that he won't be covered for anything related to the fracture.

I'm just trying to cover everything with the GP letter but good to know your Dad didn't have any problems.

My dad paid an additional fee to the insurance co. before he went and then he was covered while away. It depends on whether you think there is a slight chance he may need treatment but the insurance should give you the option of cover at an additional cost rather than just say he's not covered.

Have a great time - not long now!!

i too would see if you can add a fee to get the arm covered as well...
this will avoid the possibility of the insurance company trying to blame any possible thing that might befall him on the arm..
