VIP Tour minus Dine with Shamu?

Hi,

I just got confirmation from Seaworld that Dine with Shamu is cancelled through June 30th and "indefinately pending their internal investigation". I booked the VIP tour months ago based basically on DWS. I didn't know too much else that was involved but thought it would be worth it. They said vouchers will be given instead for one entree, side dish and soft drink at my choice of Waterfront restaurants. Can anyone tell me if the VIP tour is worth it without DWS? There is only 3 coasters (I think) so front of the line doesn't really make up for the $266 that I paid for the two of us. I can get a refund up to 24 hours before Friday so would really appreciate someones opinion that did the tour!

We will be the same as you - we go in august and have booked for eight of us to do the vip tour - to be honest the dine with shamu was one of the things that made me decide..... no idea re prices but do not think that impressed with the alterantive they are offering

I was even more unimpressed when I went on the Seaworld website after posting to discover the price online has gone down by 25$ per person so i rang seaworld and asked for my $50 refund. Which they gave. I really should have asked then what the tour involved but the lady put me on hold and just came back and told me she had refunded the difference. So for your even larger party its def worth checking if the price has changed. By the time you go, DWS may be back on. We are not so lucky I would really love to know what the tour involves tho? I can't find much about it!

You say you had the discount of $25 per person, does this mean that you still got the entree, dessert, and drink and the refund???? I think if they did refund the $25 per person and still give you the lunch then this is not bad price.

Yes still includes lunch so I decided not to cancel based on that. I am disappointed about DWS but it's defintely a much better deal now that it's $50 less for us. I'm sure it will be great!

You will also get a refund on the tax difference so check the updated total on the seaworld website before you call

Yes I am hoping it will be on when we go but $200 saving will be brilliant if not on - really appreciate your advices on this

If I were you I would ring and get the refund for the difference as soon as possible because if DWS cones back the price could well go back up we're doing the tour on Friday so I'll let you know how we get on. We don't get back til the 14th so if I don't get a chance while in Florida, I'll post then. You could always cancel for a full refund at a later date but call and get the cheaper rate now.

the only thing i was thinking is that if they put dine with shamu back on, they will probably charge the original price?????

Is this for seaworld in San diego. California
i sent an email asking about dine with Shamu for Jan 2011.
Here is apart of what they emailed back

Dine with Shamu will be returning sometime next month. We plan for this event to be available next January, unless unforeseen circumstances cause it to be cancelled.

Eeyorefanuk, they probably will up the price if DWS comes back therefore you should change it now because once you have the confirmed booking they won't be able charge you extra. It would be a huge saving for you! If I were you, if they don't agree to refund the difference (which I'm sure they will) I would cancel and rebook. I am so disappointed that we are most likely only missing it by a few weeks

The trouble is the on line says "lunch provided" whereas before it should "dine with shamu" - if reduced it, do you not think they would say "it only covers entree, etc" and not "dine with shamu" - sorry to keep askign you questions

Oh yes I do understand what you mean. But I paid 125$ each and had I not contacted them I wouldn't have got the cheaper price. Also when I booked DWS was included and noone contacted me to tell me the alternative or offer me a better price. I think if you're booked, you're booked and just get what is on that day. I would ring and get the better price now and a week before, ring again and confirm you're tour and details. I would jump at the $200 saving!
