VIP cleaning and two linked rooms

Hi All!

We are headed to the polynesian for 10 nights in early december. My two youngest children have severe asthma, and sadly, I was just diagnosed with cancer in June and had surgery to remove my spleen which makes me severely immune compromised for the next year.

I heard about the VIP cleaning which will be necessary, but my question is can I get it for two rooms? My parents are coming as well since we have young kids, and our reservations are linked. Do you think its possible that we will be able to get the VIP cleaning for both rooms? I will be going between both rooms depending on who is sleeping where.

Thanks so much!

I would put the request on each room if there are people who will be staying in both rooms who need it. Just putting the request on one room and hoping that the link will take care of it won't work. Each room needs the request.

I would specify exactly what you need for the cleaning. If you need a deep cleaning of all surfaces then say that. If you have to avoid chemicals then say that. If you need the air filter changed then say that. There are different things that can be done and you don't want to take a chance of somebody deciding for themselves what VIP cleaning means to them. What my family needs for instance is changed filters and very thorough dusting and carpet cleaning but we're completely fine with the regular sheets and towels being washed with the regular detergents since our issues are with dust and pollens. Lots of people are fine with dust but can't handle the chemicals so they ask for no chemical cleaners and no detergents in the sheets and towel. I'd be very clear about what issues you're trying to avoid so that you get exactly what you need. I'd also do things like bring ziploc bags for the remote and your own antibacterial spray since there are surfaces that I think just don't get sufficiently cleaned for somebody who is severely immune compromised but that's just what I would do. I think that even with the deep cleaning I'd take it upon myself to make sure that I did (or had somebody in my family who's not immune compromised do) a quick once over of the room with an antibacterial cleaner upon arrival in the rooms just to be safe. Mousekeeping will do their best but I would think that unless you've lived with it, you're not necessarily going to "get" just what needs to be done.

two more suggestions/comments to add:

1. They do have a portable HEPA filter that you can request instead of just a regular filter change. I like the fact that it is noisy and bright to keep everyday folks from requesting it. I personally need ear plugs and an eye mask to sleep well when the machine is running, but it is worth it to keep my lungs happy. One filter should be enough for both rooms because that thing can move air!

2. You can get chemical-free bedding, but it is placed on the regular mattress that has been in contact with chemical-laden bedding and is full of the usual dust mites, dead skin cells, and other one celled creatures. We bring our own pillows and my DF's pillowcase still smells like the perfumed laundry detergent that seeped through from the mattress over 7 months ago. He is in a VERY small minority, but this might be an issue if you say your kids have severe asthma. You could always bring a plastic bed-wetting cover, but you would probably already know if you need to go that far from stays in other hotels.

I would agree with that.
You want to make sure that your definition of 'deep cleaning' matches their definition of 'deep cleaning'.
