Hey all,

I'm new to this whole Disney collectables world, but when in WDW a couple of weeks ago I kept seeing Vinylmation figures and really liked them. Any suggestions on how to get started? Where to look? Figures to look for?

Thanks in advance!

It also depends on if you're collecting them to keep or to re-sell someday...if you're collecting to keep, then get the ones you think are the best looking or are of your favorite character. In terms of re-sale value, it's probably to early to really say if they're going to become really valuable over the long term.

To just start, the Disney Store on-line clears out older sets so you can often find some at a discount there. You can also look at ebay. Once you have some, if you're looking to trade, most of the Disney Stores do some trading.

We started collecting in the parks, and just grabbed whatever seemd interesting. Now we are looking to complete sets that we love (such as the Muppets) and I only keep ones/characters that have meaning to us or we really love.

I'm SUPER excited about the Alice in Wonderland ones coming out. I think I want the WHOLE set!

Welcome to the wide world of Vinylmations! I just got my collection started just this last July and if you want to collect absolutely everything, you will need A LOT of time and cash. While I have built up my collection to be rather substantial, I will say that I have changed the strategy of my collecting... I now only collect the designs that I love. Granted, there are MANY designs that I love lol, but at least I don't have to worry about collecting every single darned piece that's out there!

In addition, at the rate that Disney is releasing each series, it's impossible for most regular working people (like me) to get all of them... it's just not financially feasible and I can't always go to the Disney Parks 5x a month when they do park-exclusive releases.

Good luck and again, welcome to the world of drugs... I mean vinylmations!

Welcome!! My local Disney Store has been having vinyl trading once a month, too. So if you get doubles, you may want to check into that.:goodvibes
