Vinylmation buying question

Lately we've been warming up to the vinylmations, and with a lot of the new series coming out we've found a handful of specifics that we would like to purchase on our next trip. My question is, does d-street or anywhere else in WDW sell specifics of 3 and 9 inch, or do we have to buy a box blindly from that set and hope to get the ones we want? We really just want a handful we like and have no real interest to get into the trading aspect. Thank you!

most all of the stores at wdw sell specific ones. that being said, not all sets are available at wdw. if you find something you like- get it the first time you see it.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. The more I look into it, the more I see some sets have to be bought blind, which makes sense I suppose cause that's how some of the pins are. A little sad because there are a few singles in a couple different sets I like, but not enough to buy the whole set. Oh well, might grab a few blind from a set i like and try trading a little. Thanks!

The 9 inch figures are all sold in see through boxes, so you'll know what you're getting with those.

For the 3 inch, only a few of the sets are sold in see through packaging, such as nightmare before christmas, animal kingdom, MK 40th, nerds and occupations. The see through packaging allows you to see what figure you're buying, however, there are no "chasers" in see through series.

The vast majority of series: parks, urban, holiday, cutesters, animation, toy story, star wars, etc are all blind box. You don't know what figure you're getting. None of the stores sell "opened" boxes or figures, so if you're looking for a particular figure in any of those series, you'll either have to blind box it, trade for it, or buy it from an individual.

As far as trading goes, there are two ways to trade. You can do a blind trade, in which the figures are in a big black box, with doors numbered 1 through around 20ish (I can't remember the exact number) You pick a number and then see the figure behind that door, and then you can either decide to trade or not. They also have non-blind trades. They have clear boxes by certain cash registers containing 3-4 figures. You can see the figures and can trade your figure for any of the figures in the box, as long as you're not trading a figure that's already in the box.

If you're looking for only certain figures, you may want to check ebay. Several of the "regular" figures are sold for cost, or pretty close because people are trying to get the chaser or only certain figures and just want their money back for the figure they don't want or wasn't a chaser.

Thanks for the awesome answers, it looks like some of the ones we like are in blind box sets (star wars, urban, parks, etc). we might try trading a few, see how we like it. One question about the blind trading, are the ones in the numbered box completely random ones from different sets just thrown together, or will they be in the same set?

Completely random. Say you pick box 1, then whatever you trade, will go back into box 1. So they're all mixed up based on what other people trade.

A bit late to this discussion, but be aware when blind trading that technically the rule is you have to trade once you tell them a number. Many CMs do not enforce this if you really don't like what you get, but some do. Good thing is you can always trade it away again at another mystery box location later on, or swap it for one in a clear box.

My neice was very into the trading, They would let her for the most part, trade 2 times in the blind box and as many different vinyls she had that were different into the clear box..

a few CMS used to let me watch from behind so I could see what she was trading for..

It was always great when she got one she was happy with,
she loves her Big teeth ones..
LOL
