Vinyl siding - approximate cost?

Would anyone mind telling me about how much vinyl siding might cost? You know, if you've done it. We have a 1400 square foot ranch and I'm just trying to figure out ball park (I know we'll have to have someone come out to the house for a quote - but I have no clue what it migh cost ). So I'm just trying to figure out if it's a this year or next year thing. Thanks!

I don't really have a figure for you. It may depend on where you live, etc.
However, I can tell you about the quote I got.

Our rent house is about 1200 square feet, 1/2 brick. It was going to cost me around $3,000 to have siding on the non-brick areas.

Hope this helps some. Perhaps others can give you a better idea.

We just received a quote for vinyl siding for our 1600 sq.ft. house. It's a two story house built in the 1920's. The quote was $14,000. We decided to have it painted instead, the quote for that was $4200.

We had vinyl put on our last house, 1700 sq ft about 8 yrs ago. It ended up about $10,000.
