Hi! We are in the process of purchasing a home that has a inground vinyl pool.

It has a cover on it, but I would like to make it more child-proof. Can anyone please give me some reccomendations. Or any other advice?

Thanks!

Congratulations!! We have an inground pool and we love it. It IS a lot of work, but for us it is worth it. We also have a pool cover on ours in the winter. It is one that will hold up a car & is not just placed on top and held down with weights. That type is dangerous. IMO.

My biggest fear is with one of the kids getting hurt. My children are not allowed down by the pool with out me. EVER! Our pool is fenced in too and it is locked. They do make alarms for pools too, but we do not have one. If my children were younger I would.

We have an inground pool also, it is fenced-with special lock @ gate. We also have the alarm that floats in the pool-if anything more than 8 lbs breaks the surface of the water it sounds a very LOUD alarm. I wouldn't use my pool without it. I can't imagine taking the chance with mine or anyone elses kids. Get the alarm-$200 plus or minus isn't a big deal really.

Thank you for the replys.

Polyluvr: Can you reccomend a good pool alarm?

The cover that is on it is really secure. It is tied down with eyehooks. we could walk on it and nothing would happen.

I have a 4 year old, so I am looking for reccomendations on a fence that goes around the pool or something to that effect. I will aslo purchase the alarm. You can not be too safe right?

I grew up with a pool, it was in my back yard before I was born. There was never an issue. Watch your kids, keep the doors locked we have a dead bolt and the key is up high where the kids can't reach it. Well they can now, but now, but they are much older and know better, and really have no desire.

When the kids were little, we also had a baby fence around the pool, it was the law. Now we don't have it up.

You can also get an alarm on your door, it would wake the dead. Anyway, enjoy, just watch the kids and you will be fine. The kids will love the pool.

The problem is that I also have a 9 & 10 year old that can not remember to lock the front door when they come in from playing. So, a dead bolt up high will not work.
