We still haven't booked this years holiday, although we know when we want to go! Being teachers we're restricted to late July into August. We've previously stayed in villas in Kissimmee, although what can be regarded as close to Disney and/or Kissimmee is amazing. Has anyone stayed in a really good location (3bed villa or bigger) from which it doesn't take an hour to get to Universal. It's all very well companies saying 'near to Disney', but we've found to our cost, that that can mean 50-60 minutes to Universal. Any ideas anyone.
Thanks in advance.
Ian

Do you ONLY want to be near the IDrive attractions? or both Disney and convenient to get to Universal. If it's the second then I think the Western End of the 192 around Splendid China should work. It's quick into Disney, for Seaworld there is a shortcut, down Osceola Parkway and onto I-Drive and close to I4 as I think that is still the best route to get to Universal as I-Drive does get very clogged. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to get to Universal from those locations, but I4 does get really busy at times so it's impossible to guarantee. The developments I know in that area are Indian Ridge, Indian Ridge Oaks, Formosa Gardens and Lindfields off hand. But I'm sure someone will put up a link to a map of that area and there are several other choices.

Sunset Lakes is a great location. Just behind Splendid China it just takes a few minutes to get onto the I4 and to Disney which is 4 miles away. Universal takes around 20/25 minutes. Villas are 4 or 5 beds.

Most of the developments around Splendid China are about the best situated that you will find. These also include:
Oak Island, Emerald Island & Indian Creek.

We've stayed at Linfields which is on the 192 past Splendid China & would choose to stay there again.

Saying that because we went on a package we didn't choose to stay there , we were allocated on arrival!!!!

it just took 10- 20 mins to Disney, depending on traffic & that was when the roadworks were on the 192.

Approx half hour from Universal.

Lovely villa, no complaints

last september we stayed in a villa on the rolling hills estate which is next to formosa gardens near splendid china

perfect for disney and it still only took us about 30 mins to get to universal

there's loads of places to eat etc along the 192 near splendid china but everything is more spaced out compared to International drive so you generally need a car to get you there

We've stayed in two different villas both on Indian Creek behind Splendid China and it is a great location. 30 mins to Universal tops.

Hi

We have stayed on Hamilton's Reserve which is approx 10 mins to Disney so I am not sure about Universal Studios. We stayed in a townhouse which was really spacious and had a really nice pool. The company was Ashvillas you can e-mail Mike at mike@ashvillas.co.uk

Hope this helps

Thanks all.
We've still not booked anything but have received about 18 e-mails from villa owners (both from the UK and US) having made the mistake of leaving my details with vrbo. Actually the problems is there is such a choice, yet when you contact them about a specific villa, say one which backs onto a lake and it in a good location (i.e. one near 192, rather than off hwy27), you find that it's not available when you want it. I suppose we are asking alot, since I had the idea of going for 4 weeks this August. We usually go for 3 weeks, but I thought since we're probably going to buy the Florida Fun in the Sun ticket, we might as well stay an extra week, it'll only cost the extra weeks villa rental.
We actually were due to stay at Hamilton's Reserve last year, USA_mad, but at the last minute Travel City changed the estate (in tiny print they were unfortunately allowed to do this) and we ended un at the Manors at West Ridge. Although the villa was very nice, as they usually are, it was just too far away especially when going to Universal (which we usually do quite a bit).
I'm now thinking about Chatham Park, it looks to be in a good location and it's going to cost us about £1750 for the 4 weeks.
Thanks again all
Ian

Hello,

Chatham Park is is an ideal location, just off the 192 near Supermarkets etc.
We stayed there last year and I reckon it took 20 minutes to Universal, a little less for Disney but access to the I4 is easy from where you are.

This May we are actually staying at Indian Point, just south of Chatham. Houses at Chatham are a bit older and for less money we reckon we a newer 4 bedroomed villa .
The pool area is fantastic, totally private and not overlooked.

It is worth checking out:

Good Luck, Johnny.
