Hi there,

I know this sound a a daft question but, we have booked a Villa with pool. Looking at all the pics, the pool areas look like they are covered in glass??? Greenhouse effect. Is this correct? or is it covered by something else? Wotever it is, can u sunbathe and get a tan thru it?

Karen x :confused3

Its a very fine netting to stop the little flies and mossies geting in plus also keeping out leaves etc so should have no problem sunbathing under it, just be aware that as they aren't very private any topless bathing, for women, is a no go.

Claire ;)

Thanks Claire,

Wont be planning on any topless sunbathing at my time of life, but will now look forward to the few hours we may get to relax by the pool.

You will need to move about while sunbathing under the screens - or you will end up with tartan effect skin :)

 As Claire says, it's a really fine netting to stop the bugs (and frogs, gekkos!) and things blowing into the pool. It doesn't stop any sunbathing, so you will get a great tan. I must admit the pool in our villa this year was very secluded, so DH wasn't averse to coming back later in the evening after the parks (10-11ish) and skinnydipping  :faint:

Enjoy your pool :sunny: :cool1:

It is actually called 'Florida Glass', although it isn't glass as such just a protective screening to protect the pool area from insects.

Florida glass is not what is usually used for the pool screen .FG is far denser and is used for privacy .Some homes have it around the bottom panels but not generally all over the screen.

Mrs Dazzle did you know that skinny dipping is actually illegal in Florida except on one (i think) designated beach best take care next time :)

Yes, remember now - one villa we stayed in had FG on the bottom panels, as it was fully fenced too it was extremely private.

Am sure that skinny dipping or topless sunbathing is fine PROVIDING you can't be seen by ANYONE else: the Americans are particularly sensitive about nudity and women's breasts etc...

The topless thing always gets my goat. I haven't actually been topless in public since the age of two or three, BUT think that women should have the choice to sunbath topless if they wish (after all, we don't lock men up for going topless do we...? :confused3 AND I bet a lot of men have CONSIDERABLY bigger breasts than me! ;) ).

We always look for a private pool not overlooked from back or sides so that we can skinny dip and for topless sunbathing.

My mother is coming with us this time, so we are in Windsor Hills overlooked by everyone. :guilty:

Boo Boo Too
sorry but it is illegal unless on a designated site .

Taken from florida law

800.03 Exposure of s***** organs.

It is unlawful to expose or exhibit one's s*****l organs in public or on the private premises of another, or so near thereto as to be seen from such private premises, in a vulgar or indecent manner, or to be naked in public except in any place provided or set apart for that purpose. Violation of this section is a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

What organs? Please give me a few more letters - I honestly can't get that one.

I didn't say it wasn't illegal, just that it is fine PROVIDING no-one can see you. Although OBVIOUSLY you have to be very careful that someone doesn't see you!

But obviously it is left to normal adult common sense to work out what is right or wrong and what one should do or not do... :)

Oooops, have now got one (although not sure why the word was sensored...)

Ok, regarding breasts - can anyone tell me why women's ARE sexual organs and men's AREN'T? Actually I think that women's are less so than men's (since women's have another - much more practical - use...).

Boo
(Edited to add, "sexual" isn't censored by the forum, must have been self-censored...)

But is it fine if it is illegal ? should we really knowingly break the law of another country ? Just a thought of mine.
I censored sexual as I thought some people might not want to see it on family forum obviously I was wrong .

Sexual is a very clinical word.

Ok, have a look at this - http://www.dumblaws.com/laws/united-states/florida/

In Florida, it is illegal to:
- live with (or do anything to) someone you are not married to.
- sing in public if you are wearing a swimsuit
- use anything other than the m*ss**nary position.
- "pass wind" in public after 6pm
- shower naked!
- kiss your wife's br**sts
- have *r*l s*x

If people here have not broken AT LEAST one of those laws when they were in Florida, I would be AMAZED ;)

Also same s*x relationships are also illegal in Florida. And we all know that Forida is very popular with same s*x couples... doubt they abstain during their time in the State...

(phew, hope that was all suitably disguised for a family forum...).

I am not insighting people to break the law, just saying that if you do something that doesn't harm others, that others cannot see or be aware of (i.e. "take a shower naked" in your own bathroom or maybe "pass wind, very silently, in public after 6pm...), then you will probably be ok....
