I've been reading a few posts about how some of the studio rooms overlook the garbage dump and the bus stop. Some even knew which room numbers overlooked these areas. When we check in, should I ask what the room overlooks? Will they tell me? Any tips on an area I should ask for? Thanks!!

You may have more luck asking on the DVC planning page. There was a thread not too long ago about the garbage dump view. I think I remember it being a xx52 room number. Again that's strictly from my bad memory. I'm sure other DVCers would know more specifically.

Another post says the dumpster views are dedicated studios ending 60 and 62. These rooms are the farthest from the elevators, so I bet you would be ok if you asked to be close to the elevators.

here is the layout

I would avoid any studio ending in 60, 62 and 2-bedroom ending in 56.

the first floor has bushes - so you are fine here.

just ask for anything on the lake side.

there are some other not so nice views of the buses and the pathway going to the buses.

now this view is not bad - but VWL has some nice views - shame to waste your view with only a so so view.

It is not a dumpster. It is a service shack (so the problems is more the trucks).

not to mention the view.

I actually found the unofficial guide to the resorts really useful. It had every resort, the layout, walking time to food courts and bus stops, and noise level. I don't really think it gives the parks acurate views, but the hotel part seems to give an accurate rating. Even if you sit in barns and noble and read that part, but I don't think it's worth the price. Birnbaum is much better for the parks..

There is also one studio that doesn't have a balcony. Can't think of the room number off the top of my head, but I'm sure someone does.
