We arrive to the VGF on a Saturday afternoon and want to get to Epcot around 5pm. Will it be quicker to walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail or to ride the monorail from GF all the way around to the TTC and transfer for Epcot? My kids are all older and we can walk quickly. I don't know how often a monorail comes through the GF.

I think it would just depend on if the monorail was working properly. If it is, I think the monorail would be quicker.

We have walked from the GF to the Poly a couple of times and it is a longer walk than you think it is. It takes a while!

The monorail is more fun but if you are in a hurry, driving yourself is probably the fastest option if you have your own car.

I'd say it's probably somewhere between a toss up to being a little faster walking. From the Villas you have the short walk over to the monorail at the GF station. If you turn the other way you'd be partway to Poly and depending on your walking pace probably about 1/4 to 1/2 of the distance to the TTC by the time you might hope to see the resort monorail. Then that monorail would stop at MK, then CR, then finally to the TTC where you would exit, make the walk down the ramp, under the monorails and then up the ramp. Timing is everything but you might make 1 earlier Epcot monorail be walking. I don't think you'd be slower so at worst making the same train.

You will be tired after your travel, just relax, take the monorail, transfer at TTC to the Epcot monorail and have a great time.

Walk. I bet it would be faster. And I've had a few times on a stationary monorail - once for over an hour on my beautiful birthday at that. :goodvibesSo yes I would choose the walk.

And such a beautiful one.

The only reason I would choose the monorail would be intensive heat. Which for me means sunscreen coming off within five steps. :umbrella:

I'd walk rather than use the monorail. IMO, it will be faster and less stressful if you need to be at EPCOT by a certain time.

With the monorail, you'll stop at the MK & the CR before arriving at the TTC. There will be a wait at each stop to unload and load the monorail, plus the wait at the GF to get on the next monorail.

The walk isn't that bad - maybe 15-20 minutes at an average speed. I honestly do not think the monorail will get to the TTC before you, unless absolutely everything associated with the trip goes perfectly, and even then......... :)

It's a nice walk - we are walkers too - I'd walk.

It would take about 15-20 minutes of brisk walking to get to the TTC from VGF. You might want to become familiar with walking through the Poly. During regular monorail operation GF to the TTC runs around 15-20 minutes on the resort monorail. I love riding the monorail just to see everything including the entrance to MK, I find it relaxing. You will get lots of walking at EPCOT.

I stayed at the Grand Floridian Villas this summer. My Dad and I are really tall with long legs and we did the Poly to GF walk this summer and took us 10 minutes to get from the Poly to our room at the GF Villas. I would add at least another 5-10 minutes to walk from the Poly to the TTC. I would take the monorail. The Resort Monorail arrives every couple minutes. It's not to bad of a wait at the resort. I have usually only waited about two minutes for another monorail to arrive at the GF station if I just miss the other monorail. You could wait up to 5 minutes though. The monorail will take about 10-15 minutes to get to the TTC I think. When you get there, there is a walkway that you can take to the EPCOT monorail from the Resort Monorail exit. The EPCOT monorail I find a much longer wait if you just miss it. The EPCOT monorail is a long monorail route, and they usually only run two monorails on that track. If you want to get to EPCOT by 5 p.m. and use the monorail, I would be at the GF monorail stop by 4:15 p.m. I hope this helps. Have fun on your vacation! We really enjoyed the Grand Floridian Villas!

Driving will get you there quickest. However, we recently went to Epcot and walked from VGF to TTC. I would recommend it as it was quick and easy. We live in a major City and walk tons of places, so walking is easy if you are in decent shape. The monorail from VGF to TTC seems crowded and could be a wild card. Plus, on the way back, you can get Dole Whips, or eat at The Poly's Quick Service, which I prefer over GF quick service.

That's w we always drive from Magic Kingdom resorts to Epcot or stay at Boardwalk : )
