I saw in the thread for general info on Universal Hotels that some people have gotten upgrades to a suite or a "villa suite".....I never heard of this. We are a family of five - 2 adults, 3 kids and have a ressie at Portofino for the Club Level deluxe room - 2 queens ....is it beyond expensive to upgrade to one of these "suites" ....I think I remember when I called the reservationist mentioned a suite at the HRH but it was like $200 more a night. WE're LOEW's members (big whup right) and have stayed at the HRH but that was before we had our #3 (who will be almost 2 at the time of travel).....

Any input will help..... gracias

The people who got upgrades were platinum members.

You can always see if there is an upgrade when you check in.

Most here who have mentioned being upgraded to the Villa Suite at the Portofino were Platinum Loews members. Being Platinum, as long as you are using a qualifying rate (not APH), you are automatically upgraded to a suite at reservation. However, the automatic upgrade is to the smaller Portofino suite. Some have had the luck to instead be upgraded to the larger Villa Suite.

If you are a Gold Loews member, you can be upgraded to a suite for $35.00 extra if suites are available.

For a Blue member - you can ask at check-in if there are any upgrades available. From our experience (and ours only), upgrades seem to be most likely at the Portofino so you might be in luck, especially if you are going during a slower time. The only thing that might hold you back is that club is not usually one of the available upgrades, so it can be tricky getting an upgrade while still keeping club. It has been done, especially in your case as you are already paying for club, but sometimes it seems to make it a bit more involved.

It won't hurt to ask at check-in. You never know you just might get lucky and get that suite.

And if you don't get the suite, don't worry, the deluxe queen rooms are quite large and spacious. We have put our family of 5 in one several times and have been very comfortable.

Good luck!

Thanks -- I dont' really expect to get an upgrade ever...but I really would like to know more about the suites -- the kids suites at Hrh or something like that at Portofino ...or is our club level deluxe 2 queens good enough for us ... my husband likes his space ... is it worth the x-tra $$??

thanx

I would suggest going to http://www.universalorlando.com/index.php by clicking on the hotel link and then the hotel of your choice, and then clicking on the accomodations link, you will be able to view the various floor plans and decide for yourself if the upgrades you are considering are worth it.

What is the going rate (on the avg) for a suite - our Deluxe Club room at Portofino w. AAA discount was $329.00 for 6/26/07 --- we have to change our plans and want to go during President's Week ...anyone know the rates for Suite rooms - whether HRH or Portofino - I didn't see this as an option on the website - have the floor plan for suites but no rates.

You are probably going to have to give them a call. As you mentioned, the various suites are not online. And President's day is a holiday weekend, so it might be a bit harder to find the discounts.
