My family and I are going to spend a week in Orlando in June. We've decided to rent a Villia or Condo. I've view alot of them from this board. I noticed that they are alot of owners in the UK. I skeptical about renting from them. Has any ever rent from one of them. Also I not sure what questions to ask in reference to renting. Is it best to rent from the owner or Management Company?

I've rented from UK owners twice now. No troubles. In both cases, they had an agent located in the states who collected funds in US$.

If you rent from a Management Company you will probably pay more for the same home you can get from the owner for a better price.
I rented from a UK owner and US owner prior to buying our own home and I had no problems with either one! They were both Great!
If you find a home and have a good feeling about the owner and the house I say book it!
You can look at some of these sites for renting from owners.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask we are all here to help. If you want to PM or email me and I would be happy to help in any way that I can.

Lots and lots of UK owners bought vacation homes as investments here, not only was our real estate market hot the past few years, the value of the pound to the dollar made it even cheaper! It doesn't really matter where the owner lives, what matters is that they have a good management company here in the US to look after their property and guests.

You can also check out Windsor Hills Resort for a great new resort close to Disney!

"it doesn't really matter where the owner lives, what matters is that they have a good management company here in the US to look after their property and guests."

How true that statement is! I know I have a Great Management Company and my guests have told me numerous times how great they were!

There is no reason to be worried about an owner from the UK - like me they will have US bank accounts so can accept $ payments and will have management companies to look after their home for them.Renting direct from an owner gives you a direct link to the one person who can answer all your questions quickly ans will know the house personally and what it has in it and whether anything you specifically need can be added- a man co is only a middle man who will take their % of the money rather than the owner getting it all which helps them to be able to upgrade and keep their home in tip top condition for you.
As for questions ask about the man co -how far away are they for example - you can also check ownership once you are close to a decisiion and have the details you need such as county and owners name.

Give a UK owner a try if you like their home -we are not that bad to deal with :) :) :)

My parents have rented from UK owners twice - in fact they are in a villa at Sunset Ridge right now for 2 months and it is owned by a man who lives in the UK. They have had absolutely no problems and paid in US$.

I agree, you should not have any problems with UK owners,

I would just verify that they own the property. I know we own in Emerald Island and about 1/2 of the owners are from the UK.

You can verify ownership for Osceola County at

Sent you a PM regarding a home we have rented several times and love. HTH

We've rented from UK owners twice and US owner once and a few times just from a rental company. Would much prefer to rent from an owner where ever they're from. Everyone was very nice and professional. It may take a fair amount of trust on our part to deal with any of the owners but remember they have to trust you with their hundreds of thousand dollar homes. If you take a few precautions and check things out you'll have no problems.

Being from the UK - I'd like to know what's wrong with UK owners?

Absolutely nothing! People just get concerned during renting from an owner directly, it's a very common question to ask during the rental process, if the owner lives overseas then people wonder if they have more reason to be concerned (they do not). Fortunately, as mentioned, there is a lot people can do to reassure themselves, this is a very common guest question we get asked all the time, and there are some easy answers!

The great thing about these boards to be honest, is that both guests and owners are allowed to pretty much freely post on the DIS...many of the other Disney boards do not allow this freedom of speech / expression to this extent... and as such... we have a great forum! This truly is one of the best boards...and it's great to be able to help people who have questions like these get some practical answers and advice!

I got a quote on a villa and have been communicating with the owner. But I was unable to confirm that he is the owner of this property using this Link. I entered his name but no information came back. Not sure what i'm doing wrong, please help

I would be honest with them and tell them you are having trouble verifying ownership. Maybe you have the named spelled incorrectly.

As an owner, I want people to feel comfortable with renting from me and am not offended if they want proof of ownership. I would feel the same way if I was the one renting from someone.

Om th oseola county one you need to follow the directions to a t or it will kick it out.

For us I have to give people my husbands name because he comes first and if you use my name it will not give you anything. We are married and we both own the home but that is how it works I have already called and complained but to no avail.

You can also put in the address and chack that way. Just follow directions very carfull. Last name first and so on.
