This is a good deal. I would get another one however I had 3 256 Meg cards when I went in December and realized (2) 256 cards would have been more then enough.

Thanks for posting this, but when I looked at the Rebate Form it said it was a $10 rebate. I didn't see any way of getting the other $6.

I just looked and it said $16. Thanks for the tip! I bought a 512 (?) for my dec trip and ran out. I am a picture-o-holic.

poohj80 is correct if you click on the first of the 3 rebate forms that is shown on the rebate page, the MIR is only $10. The other 2 rebate forms are for $16 but they are expired.

Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy. ;) I agree, still a good deal!

I am, too. I have 2 gigs of CF. I just got a 1 gb card from Best Buy for $54... there is a $20 sandisk rebate right now on them - makes them cheaper than a 512!

Wow thanks for that tip. I may have to go for that one. I like the idea of having one card rather than 3 or 4.

Did anyone ever receive this rebate? I was going through my files and realized I never got a check.

I have been fighting with them for over a month now. When I checked my rebate status, there was no information about it. They told me to fax it in again - after 2 weeks still no information. Told to call Viking directly (1-800-845-8777). Ask for customer support. They told me to fax the info to them and they would take care of it. They were also supposed to call me that they received the info. So far no call back, so I'm going to call them today.

Personally, I think it's a scam. Most people don't keep track of rebates (I do), so they figure they won't have to pay out 90% of them. I'm not letting this one go.

So anyway, try the number above. It may take a while to get to someone, but hopefully everything will eventually work out.

Thanks! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one as I was beginning to wonder if maybe I just forgot to record the rebate. Unfortunately, they are closed today for the holiday but I will call tomorrow. I also e-mailed Amazon.com customer service to let them know of the problems since they are still offering Viking rebates on this product.

So glad I'm not the ONLY one scammed by this company!! I've emailed them for the last YEAR trying to get my $15 rebate! "Oh, we sent the rebate out...we'll cancel it, and send another..." Yes, they've told me this several times! It is unreal that they do this to consumers! :sad2:

I called Viking at this number and was told they had no control over the rebates since a separate company handles them. I called the Rebate Center at 866-243-9017 and they confirmed receipt of my rebate and stated it was in the final stages of processing. When asked why it has taken over 3 months and still a check has not been cut, the person could not answer the question. I will continue calling once a week and asking for a supervisor until I receive it. I also notified Amazon.com that this is happening since they are still offering Viking products with similar rebates.

Got thru to Viking to ask about the rebate and they said that it was being issued and would take 8-10 weeks. Amazing, if I get the cheque, it will have taken 7 1/2 months from the time I purchased the card!

BTW, Viking is the only ones who can issue the rebate now as I was told by the rebate company that as the rebate has now expired, there was nothing they could do. The 1-800 number I gave above is correct.

The fact that we're getting completely different stories from both parties does not give me much confidence. What bothers me is that Amazon.com is still offering these rebates when they must know about all the problems by now.

Talked to the Viking Rebate Center again today and was told the check was shipped on June 3. However, this time they do not have my address correct when it was correct last time I called. This just keeps getting more interesting.

I'll keep you posted.

did the rebates ever come for this deal? There's something similar posted at Amazon that's good through the end of the month, but if I'm not going to get a rebate check...it's not such a good deal :/

After MANY phone calls, I did get my rebate 4 months later.

thanks for the update! I read some similar stories on other "deal" sites, after I asked the question here yesterday. I think I'm going to look for a good price without a rebate, LOL...

I also got my rebate - finally - however it did also take a lot of phone calls. Another good reason to keep copies of everything you send and to mark a date on the calendar. After that many weeks, most people will forget that they've even sent out for a rebate.
